YULE is one of the four major gateways in the 8 spoked circle of the Pagan/ Druid year.

It’s CAPRICORN time. Ruled by Saturn, the planet/God of Time, testing, maturity, old age. The ancient Romans celebrated this tradition as the Saturnalia. A time of revelry, when slaves were free and became the masters, everyone was celebrating the Return of the  Light, the King, in infant form. The Christians overlaid the story of Jesus onto the ancient worship. Everything we associate with Christmas are ancient pagan symbols -the holly, the mistletoe, the Yule log, the tree.

Paganism is the fastest growing “religion” in the U.K. and the U.S. Actually it is not an organized religion at all per se, it is a practice of spiritual immanence with Nature, the Goddess and the God, with All That Is. Paganism is more of a group spirituality which can be practiced alone. It has nothing to do with devil worship. The popularity of Harry Potter has also certainly brought back its popularity. Pagans worship nature, Druids worshipped trees.

So it’s Capricorn time. The sun is on the Tropic of Capricorn 23.26 degrees South of the Equator.  The Tropic Of Capricorn has many countries worldwide which it runs through. Five in Africa, North of Alice Springs, Queensland, Australia, and four countries in Brasil.

YULE pronounced EWE-elle is the name for the shortest day of Light in the Year, the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere. It is when the dark half of the year dies to the light half. Starting the next morning at sunrise, the sun climbs just a little higher and stays a little longer in the sky each day. Known as Solstice Night, or the longest night of the year, the sun’s “rebirth” was celebrated with much joy. Our ancestors celebrated the rebirth of the Oak King, the Sun King, giver of Life. From this day forward, the days would become longer. As the people participated in the mystique of the turning of the wheel of Life, their participation and prayers to honour this propitious time was all important. For if the Goddess did not bring rebirth to her Son the sun, and the Sun’s Light did not return then that signalled the death of all life on the earth.

Bonfires were lit in the fields, and crops and trees were ‘wassailed” with toasts of spiced cider. Children were escorted from house to house with gifts of clove spiked apples and oranges which were laid in baskets of evergreen boughs and wheat stalks dusted with flour. Apples and oranges represented the sun. The boughs symbolized immortality (evergreens were sacred to the Celts who worshipped trees because they did not “die” thereby representing the eternal aspect of the Divine). The wheat stalks portrayed the harvest, and the flour was the accomplishment of triumph, light, and life. Holly and ivy not only decorated the outside but also the inside of homes, in hopes Nature Sprites would come and join the celebration. A sprig of Holly was kept near the door all year long as a constant invitation for good fortune to visit the residents. Mistletoe was also hung as decoration. It represented the seed of the Divine, and at Midwinter, the Druids would travel deep into the forest to harvest it.

The ceremonial Yule log was the highlight of the Solstice festival. Traditionally, the log must either have been harvested from the householder’s land or given as a gift… it must never have been bought. Once dragged into the house and placed in the fireplace it was decorated in seasonal greenery, doused with cider or ale, and dusted with flour before setting ablaze by a piece of last years log, (held onto for just this purpose). The log would burn throughout the night, then smolder for 12 days after before being ceremonially put out. Ash is the traditional wood of the Yule log. It is the sacred world tree of the Teutons, known as Yggdrasil. An herb of the Sun, Ash brings light into the hearth at the Solstice.  The World Tree, Yggdrasil is the one in which ODEN is suspended from in the tarot Image of the HANGED MAN. This is where the Nordic RUNES came from.

Capricorn energy starts December 21st @ 2:23 pm PST/ 5:23 pm EST/ 10:23 pm GMT as Sun enters Capricorn. The Sun sits directly over the Tropic of Capricorn on this day. This is what Tropical western astrology is all about.

Its Capricorn time/ The Devil #15 in the Tarot is here. Capricorn is Feminine earth. Ruled by the ringed planet Saturn. 

The Winter solstice/YULE to Pagans is the shortest day of light in the Northern Hemisphere and the longest day in the Southern Hemisphere where summer begins.

This important cardinal event marks the beginning of one of the 4 seasons a major Gateway in the year. Our ancestors celebrated the death and rebirth of the Light from before the beginning of recorded time.

December 21 is the longest night of 2018 this is the most feminine night. The dark is the realm of the Goddess. Spend December 21 communing with the Goddess with the void directly, with the wise Chrone, with the death bringer Goddesses. The goddess is eternal and her husband/ liver/son is reborn through her labor’s on this night. Christians Annexed these ancient pagan ways into the myth of Christmas. The birth of the Sun/son a pun and is what Jesus supposed birth is based on. Happy return of the light after the sun appear to standstill for 3-days on the solstice which is what the word means Celebrate the transition from the feminine to the masculine half of the year.

This year energy is very busy. Coming right after the SUN URANUS trine- bright chaos- the stock market in the US sunk in one of its biggest sell-off days since the depression.The Dow Jones index closed below 23,000 for the first time since October 2017. 

The SOLSTICE astrology chart can be used as forecast chart for the next 3 months until Spring 2019.

The Moon is in GEMINI all day indicating a rapidly changing dialogue and mutable energies. The Moon is very quick-witted and busy today.

winter Solstice, Yule,

WINTER SOLSTICE/Summer Solstice down under, arrives Dec 21 @ 2:44 am PST/5:44 am EST/ 10:44 am GMT. Happy WINTER. Happy SUMMER to all my friends down under.

This is the shortest day of light where we are north of the equator and the longest night and vice versa. This is the rebirth of the SUN! which Christmas is based on.

Solstice. The word means Sol=Sun, stands still. The Sun appears to rise and set at the same location on the horizon for three days. It really should be spelled SOULSTICE.

It is an ancient wiccan/ pagan/Germanic tradition called YULE. Al indigenous peoples celebrated in the participation of the turning of the wheel of time. It is the REBIRTH of the LIGHT, in the northern hemisphere. The Christian religion couldn’t eradicate the ancient practice, so they made this into the day of Jesus’s birth -Christmas. This time also marks the ancient Roman festival of Saturnalia.

WINTER SOLSTICE is one of the 4 Main power gates and 4 cross- quarters in the Year.

Zero degrees Capricorn marks the WORLD POINT. The SEEDING of all consciousness for the next year. It is a time of great HOPE, the SUN IS REBORN. An ancient pagan festival, Christianity overlaid its religious tenants over the ancient knowledge.

The Teutonic God ODIN, was hung upside down on Ygdrasil the World Tree to receive a vision of the RUNES. He is the symbol of the HANGED MAN #12 in the tarot. 

2016’s Solstice features Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn, conjunct Pluto squaring Jupiter in Libra and squaring Uranus, Eris, and Ceres in ARIES. The Cardinal Cross is very tense and we are trying to find a balance. Jupiter in Libra contrary to what you would think historically produces exaggerated dictatorships and not peace makers.

What do we need to learn from The Hanged Man now?

The Hanged Man symbolizes surrendering the ego.  Allow, simply allow, The Universe has another path in mind. BUT don’t be a martyr either. 

MEDITATE at the SOLSTICE and plan the next 3 months till spring. Rest, it is an intense three days and then its Christmas and Chanukkah this year too.

Death and change, the only constants

My Mother in law, who is 88 years old is dying and I have been sending prayers constantly all day. Death always changes your consciousness about what you are doing with your life.I know she is ready to leave this planet and incarnation and to move on to a new dimension. As my husband left to travel to Ottawa where his mother is earlier today I said Don’t worry, she is fine. Your Dad, her sister brothers and parents are all waiting for her with open arms.  His sister called from Vancouver as she was also making preparations to fly to Ottawa to be at their mom’s side. She said I know my Mom is talking to me. She just told me that she is fine, that Daddy, her sister and brothers and mom and dad are all there waiting for her. I asked her when she received this telepathic message. She said around 10:15 am and I said that’s exactly when I told my husband the same words..

I’ll keep it very short. Scorpio Moon is the mood of death, rebirth, letting go, deep pain, grief, rebirth, transformation. We’ve been in Scorpio phase since Wed. Dec 17

Just before this month’s Scorpio dance through the depths of the underworld ends the Moon meets Saturn the Lord of Death and finality at 1:11 pm Dec 19 PST then the Moon goes void of course.

We are in the death throws of dealing with the constancy, the certainty of time and death that Saturn brings in Scorpio . These are the last days of that ornery critical 29th degree of Scorpio, the last of the last. Stephen Colbert has bid adieu to his character. Its been a hugely intense week. Yes it was only Monday that the 6th Uranus-Pluto square happened. Massacres, shootings, Sony hackings, Cuba renewed and more.

Remember this is a very HUGE transitional weekend and has been one of the most powerful weeks energetically all year.

Moon enters Sagittarius Friday at 1:55 pm PST and it is the perfect holiday moon with which to travel under.

MARS also sextiles Uranus  to tickle your changeability fancy.

URANUS turns DIRECT Dec 21 on a New Moon and the Winter solstice December 21 aka YULE in pagan wiccan traditions. It is the day of the Longest night and the return of the Light. Stonehenge and other sacred sites are visited by thousands to mark this great turning point in the year.

We are scant days away from Saturn moving on from the 29th critical degree. It will feel very heavy and intense until December 23 @ 8:34 am PST/11:34 am EST when Saturn totally shifts our reality and moves into the honest optimistic humorous sign of SAGITTARIUS.

All Capricorn’s, especially those Old Bill Goat Gruff’s and Goatees born December 23- January 5 this is a huge  year for you. Or anyone with Capricorn planets at 9-14 degrees. You know PLUTO is forcing the old you to die and be reborn, unless you are truly following your soul’s path. Then Pluto can bring power, rewards, riches. An entirely new you is being forged deep in the bowels of the earth. And if that’s not enough to change your soul totally. Then Uranus Mars and Jupiter get in on the act to revolutionize, ignite and expand your horizons respectively.

Where the PLanetary Lines fall on the Winter Solstice chart map in Astro Cartography is where the greatest tension will be for the next 3 months to a year. Especially where  Mars Uranus Jupiter and Pluto lines fall are the areas to watch.

PLUTO runs right through Maputo South Africa,North through Zambia, Zaire,Chad, Western Libya,France,South West England, Ireland. PLUTO MARS and URANUS CONJUNCT exactly in the middle of CHAD AFRICA. TRIPLE HOT SPOT with Jupiter crossing north of the others in LIBYA.

Pluto conjuncts the Moon over ICELAND, right over the Northern most part of   Canada, including that north Pole passage and down through, North West Alberta and bisects British Columbia and goes out to the middle of the Pacific Ocean and South of New Zealand.

PLUTO is on the Mid Heaven and runs through Argentina, BOLIVIA, Venezuela, Western Puerto Rico, North to Boston and into Quebec and Labrador.

PLUTO conjuncts URANUS right on Tiera Del Fuego Argentina and again in Northern Russian down through Ulan Bator MONGOLIA.. Those are HOT SPOTS.

On the other side of the World Pluto is on the I.C. of Indonesia,BEIJING , into Mongolia and Russia.  If you are a Capricorn and living on these lines you will be transformed even more. Or got to these places if you are seeking Plutonic transformation.

URANUS and MARs actually cross paths directly over New York, near Washington , through the Caribbean, right over HAITI, Venezuela and Columbia. Also through Western Alaska, near Hawaii. They cross Pluto right at the Society Islands. On the Western side, Uranus and Mars cross paths  right through Stockholm, Sweden,Warsaw, Poland, Budapest Hungary, down through Belgrade Yugoslavia, South through Libya, Chad, directly South through Botswana, Africa. Mars and Uranus Ascend through JAVA and Indonesia. Uranus and Pluto cross over each other in Mongolia.

JUPITER is on the Mid Heaven through TAIWAN, MANILLA Philipines, Indonesia and Western Australia. Jupiter on the I.C. through Nova Scotia, South through Guyana, Paraguay, Argentina and the FALKLAND ISLANDS.

JUPITER ASCENDS through TASMANIA, SUDAN, crosses MARS & URANUS in LIBYA!!!!! VERY HOTTTT,

Jupiter Ascends through France, Britain, Ireland, Jupiter Descends through NOrthern CANADA, NOrth of HUDSON”S BAY,Northern Saskatchewan, right through the ALBERTA TAR SANDS, right through Mt. ST. HELEN’s And WASHINGTON STATE and Descends through the Pacific near the Society Islands and South of New Zealand.
