Venus in Cancer May 7 at 10:25 am EDT June 5 is“There’s no place like home”-Dorothy’s famous mantra in the Wizard of Oz is what Venus in Cancer is all about. Venus was last in Cancer about a year ago July 17- September 4/5 2022.

Mars is also in Cancer until May 20 and Saturn is in PIsces thorughout 2023. This is a super emotional sensitive time. Tears will flow spontaneously and tummies will be upset.

PSYCHOLOGICALLY

Deeper symbolism of Cancerian lead Summer is emotional security, safety, coming home. Cancer is water and water is emotions, why we are here on this earth plane, to feel, everything.

The Sun stands over the Tropic of Cancer which is what Western tropical Astrology is based on. This is the first Solstice of 2019 and the second major Astrological turning point of the wheel of the year beginning with Spring Equinox. The Sun is at its maximum Northern point of 23 degrees 27 Minutes. It’s The longest daylight of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and the shortest day of the year in the Southern Hemisphere.

Summer begins up North and winter begins down South. To ancient pagans this is Litha and thousands of druids will be gathering to celebrate the Sun King’s peak at Stonehenge in the U.K. Thousands worldwide honor the Sun as we co-create with the Suns turning in its annual dance of the seasons.  In the North, the Masculine growth time peaks now and slowly declines towards the Autumn Equinox. The Feminine half of the year begins to ascend now.

I realize I am “North centric” living in the Northern Hemisphere. To all the Southern Hemi-folks, winter is beginning and the Masculine time of the year of increasing starts its reign.

We are always in this yin/yang balance. Every night half the world is awake and bathed in light and the other half is asleep in the darkness of night. We are more aware of this now than ever before.

The Solstice points are major markers. This is an important turning point to stop and plan your intentions until the Autumn Equinox at least. It’s also a good time to take stock of how the seeds you planted at the Spring Equinox have taken, grown and flourished or not. It may be time for much weeding and fertilizing to get the crop you want.

While the sun is traveling through Cancer we are under the rulership of the Moon, our emotions and FEELINGS. Cancer is the first water sign, symbolized by the crab. It Ancient Egypt it was seen as two turtles. Our bodies are 70% water. Cancer represents the womb, our mothers, and the oceans of the earth from where all life started. Cancer is also the dark void of pure potential, home, emotional security and safety.

Cancer symbolizes the unconscious, the wellspring, the cup, vessel and Holy Grail, the dream world, and our unconscious memories, stored in our cellular consciousness. The emotional realm is a karmic realm, according to Buddhist teachings, and emotions are the glue that draws us back into the physical plane. A Tibetan Buddhist teacher taught that we are all our mothers, literally. We actually felt and experienced every emotion she ever felt her entire life from when she came into existence in her own mothers’ womb as a single egg. There is an emotional string of pearls of wisdom within you with which you can find your way home to source and your own genetic ancestry.

Cancer is the Great Mother symbol in all of her most loving, nourishing and nurturing of aspects.  We are all born of women and come through our mothers as the Moon’s physical body all women are ruled by the Moon specifically. Men also have a feminine side and they too feel the Moon’s subtle pull of psychic, intuitive, subtle and dream energies.  The Solstice coincides with Father’s Day this year. Also symbolizing a rebalancing of the masculine and feminine energies.

Trump # 3, The Empress is also associated as she is usually symbolized by a pregnant woman although she symbolizes Venus

Meditate at the time of the Solstice June 21 @ 8:54 am PDT/ 11:54 am EDT/ 3:54 pm GMT 

As Cancer symbolizes the Mother, I would see this solstice as a conception point to plan out your next three trimesters. The 1^st from June 21 to Autumn Equinox.The second trimester goes from September 21 until Dec 21^st Solstice, and the third ends at Spring 2016’s Equinox when the baby, which is whatever you intend to create will be born healthy and strong.  

Have a notebook, or device, candles and whatever symbolizes mothering on hand. A food offering of milk of any type should be set up. Moon cakes, an Asian specialty or moon shaped cookies would work too. Create a moon alter and place mirrors, water, flowers, dolphin or whale images, mermaids, and see below for other tools. Seashells and sand dollars. There are two parts to this solstice ritual, one is in water, the other is with your moon alter.

Practical tools: Use these to amplify the resonance in your ritual.

Color: Silvery blue, silver or white. Use this for candles and to wear.

BODY PARTS: rules the stomach, breasts, uterus and digestion.

Metal is silver. Wear your finest silver, get out the silver candlesticks.

Gemstones: pearls, moonstones and emeralds traditionally. Chalcedony, carnelian, onyx and white=blue chrysoprase.

Power stone: sodalite. Talisman stone: sapphire.

Modern gems: chrysoprase, fire opals, super seven, topaz, amber.

Herbs: Eucalyptus and fenugreek

SOLSTICE WATER MEDITATION

Water is the prime element of Cancer. Take a ritual bath , anytime, day or night. It’s time to return to the womb and rebirth oneself. Make sure the water is close to body temperature. Put essential oils of rose, eucalyptus or lavender in the bath. If your mother wore a specific perfume you may want to spritz that around.  Put white foaming bubble bath to symbolize the sea and rose petals. If you have a heartbeat drumming track then put that on in the background.

Immerse yourself in the bath. Dunk your head under the water.  Close your eyes and sink into your own uterine memories of being inside your mother’s womb. Remember the feeling of absolute security, safety, peace, the darkness, with the sound of your mother’s heartbeat. Not everyone has had safe comfortable experiences in the womb. If you had a difficult connection with your mother in utero or in your life or were adopted or feel rejected, you need to call upon the symbol and archetypal energy of the Great Mother at this time to hold you, to nurture you and to bring you feelings of safety and security for being loved and complete simply for existing. Her love is unconditional. The Great Mother can be Mary in the Christian Tradition, or Ceres, Gaia, the Earth Herself, your own mother or allow a Mother figure to come to you. She offers the ultimate and only true place of emotional “homeland security “and peace, in the arms of the Great Mother on a spiritual level.

Allow yourself to feel. This is what Cancer is: emotions. Rock yourself gently, hear the heartbeat of the Great Mother as your own heartbeat. Let that heartbeat envelope you.

Sink into the feeling of safety. From this place of feeling safe and whole. Ask yourself what do you need to nurture now? What will nourish you? A relationship? A skill? What do you need to create, give your heart to? A person, a job, an idea? Allow the feelings and sensation to guide you. If you aren’t a visual person, sense it in your stomach. Rub your breasts. Love your tummy whatever shape it is in and your breasts. Adore your womb whether you have had children or not. Men have a spirit womb as do women who have had hysterectomies. Get out slowly thanking the water spirits and the Great Mother and the Moon for being with you.  Dry off and reflect.

The 2^nd part of the Meditation

Create your moon alter and make it beautiful. Wear white or silver. If you can be out in nature near a body of water, a lake, the ocean, a river or pond that is great If not sit by your prepared alter. Breathe into your belly and breast and uterus. Meditate and ask for images, feelings and sensations to come up. Call upon the High Priestess as she is the Archetypal go-between between the unconscious and conscious realms.

The Moon rules our dreams. You will need to keep a dream journal. Do intend to work with your dreams over the moon’s cycle every night. Do this until the Capricorn Full Moon July 1^st and take stock of what you have recollected. Keep going until the Cancer New Moon July 15 which will be a very, very intensely emotional New Moon. Huge. Cataclysmic. Keep working you’re your dreams until Autumn Equinox when the elements change.

PRACTICAL APPLICATION

CANCER rules the stomach. And cancer’s love to cook and to eat. Cancer is also sentimental. Prepare something your mother used to cook for you that you love perhaps. It can be simple, jello?  It is also Father’s Day this year and Cancer is all about family and nurturing so have a big or small family gathering. If you have no family, cook for your friends or strangers. Do something special for a children’s organization or devote some time to helping out in a hospital, food bank or helping take care of older women or men.

Dr. Masaru Emoto taught that water is affected by our emotions. The oceans are very polluted from Fukushima and plastic and other pollutants. Thousands of seals, whales and fish are dying en masse in the Pacific. Visualize healing energy to the oceans, the lakes, especially the Alberta Tar Sands in Canada, and all water ways. Droughts and water shortages not just in California but in many parts of the world will become more severe. Conserve water during this Cancer month especially. Be conscious of how we are 70% water. We take it for granted. It is the water of Life itself. Honor it and your own feelings and intuition.

Midsummer’s Eve was believed to be a time when the veil between this world and the next is at its thinnest and when fairies were thought to be at their most powerful. Shakespeare’s famous play is based on ancient pagan beliefs. Party in the woods with some magic mushrooms round the Holly Tree. 

Midsummer/ Summer Solstice is the most powerful day of the year for the Sun Gods. Fire is the predominant element in the celebration. Fire is spirit, action, and passion. A candle should be lit for the entire day, especially if it is cloudy or raining. The fire represents the Sun and is a constant daily reminder of the power of the Source. Rituals should be performed at noon when the sun is highest and strongest. Many pagans initiate protective amulets which become empowered over the Midsummer balefire.

Ring of Fire Spell 
 “This spell is based on a little-known solar ritual from the Aegean islands. Long ago on the night before the Summer Solstice, hoops were set ablaze, and the villagers would guide the Sun’s return by jumping through rings of fire. You can create your own ring of fire with this spell. At dusk, outdoors if possible, light four candles of the appropriate color, one for each season, in a circle. In the center place a gold or yellow candle for the Sun. Light the seasonal candles and say:

“Seasons must turn,

Light the Sun candle and say:

Coupling or handfasting

Midsummer is the time to formalize any relationship. Couples that have been together a year and a day since the previous Beltane can make their marriage final. This Sabbat is also an excellent time to renew wedding vows.

Sage, mint, basil, Saint John’s Wort, sunflower, mistletoe (specifically the berries which represent semen), oak, rowan, and fir.

 Litha foods

The Midsummer Moon is also known as the HONEYMOON, where this term originated. Mead is made, a drink considered to be a magical life enhancing drink. Magical baking and charms are created on this special day. Traditionally this festival spans three days. This year it is June 20-23rd.

Elderflowers

Elderflowers peak at Midsummer. Pick them in the fullness of a sunny day, ideally on Midsummer’s Day. The Elder is sacred to the Mother Goddess and is often called the Witch’s Tree, the Elder Mother, or Queen of the Trees. It is protective with wonderful healing properties. It aids transformation, change, and renewal, this drink will aid in transforming your life. You could also drink elderberry juice. 

 Eat Honey Cake

A celebration of a sweet life. If you can source locally produced honey its the best. Wherever it comes from always thank the precious Bees.

Pisces Super Moon, into the flow Astrology

This Full Moon is the first of three Super Moons this year. The Full Moon will be perigee, closest to the earth and syzygy aligned with the Sun and earth, hours after the full moon making the moon appear larger. Super Moons generate stronger gravitational pulls on the oceans and our own emotions, so we will feel the effects in a stronger way.

Pisces is the twelfth and last sign of the zodiac and the one connected with all things mystical, spiritual, endings, dissolution, and ephemeral. It is water, a feminine, mutable, emotional sign symbolizing the oceanic Source of consciousness from which we all began and to which all things must return.

Pisces, ruled by Neptune in Modern astrology, governs the imagination, the unconscious, that storehouse of cellular consciousness which contains our deepest memories. Pisces rules creativity, formlessness, the non-ego Oneness state. Pisces rules the oceans, all artistic creations, soul-mates, non-duality, poetry, charity, compassion, martyrdom, projection, dreams, glamour, Hollywood, meditation, yoga, gurus, spiritual retreats, psychotropic mind-altering drugs, like ayahuasca, mediumship, ghosts, jails, mental health, debt,  magicians, “snake-oil salesmen” psychic energy, delusions, illusions, addictions, spiritual healing, oil, and completion, death.

 This Super Full Moon signifies we have completed an entire years’ worth and many lifetimes of spiritual lessons and emotional growth now.

Jupiter was the traditional ruling planet of Pisces until the discovery of Neptune in 1846 who is at home in his own sign. Jupiter, the King of the Gods rules expansion, higher learning, and teaching, wisdom teachers on the higher astral planes, travelling, justice, freedom, optimism, and faith.

Jupiter and Neptune are both involved very closely with this Full Moon. Jupiter in Virgo is 3 degrees away from the Sun. Neptune is opposite Jupiter and 2 degrees away from the Moon at 6 degrees 06 minutes of Pisces.  To have both planetary rulers involved indicates that we are definitely being guided by higher mystical powers at this time.

Jupiter in Virgo is very grounding, practical, efficient and hard working.  The Pisces Full Moon signifies a time of being cleansed, bathed, purified and renewed by the healing spiritual waters of Source itself.

All we need to do is surrender our ego’s resistance and illusion that we are separate entities from Source. We need to stop believing that illusion is real, that we are alone. We need to remember our infinite power as creators. We need to remember where we came from and why we are here. Jupiter in Virgo will help us to know and understand our sacred and practical mission.

 

In the Tarot the MOON card,  Trump # 18 is the symbol associated with Pisces  

But I also associate The Hanged Man Trump # 12 with the Pisces Full Moon.

 

The Hanged Man, symbolizes the sacrificial martyr aspect of Pisces, the surrendering of the ego which can be both negative and positive.

The Moon card shows the dark side of the Moon, the Dark Night of the Soul, the feeling of being abandoned and alone. Both cards are associated with a spiritual baptism and the surrender of the ego, faith and trust. Like Jesus, represented by the Symbol of Pisces, had a moment of humanity while being crucified when he cried out to God “Why hast thou forsaken me.”

This Full Moon indicates we need to meditate on the Source within ourselves to reach Nirvana, not the band, but a state of Bliss and Oneness. Then as the Zen koan says, “Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment chop wood, carry water.” In modern terms, it is “the laundry” after enlightenment these days. Jupiter in Virgo is doing the laundry.

Venus is still Retrograde and within two degrees of Mars in Leo also making this a great time to review our hearts’ desires, to come into balance within our own Masculine and Feminine energies,

This degree feels an inner spiritual certainty, a feeling that cannot be shaken, broken or worn away.  It never forgets the truth that it knows that anything that one truly has can never be lost.

The candle a symbol of The Light, like the Library of the Chandra symbol, is protected from discord and the dimming of the Light. MEDITATION for Pisces full Moon

As in previous Full Moon meditations, gather four candles, color related items and incense.

We are connecting with WATER, the emotional body and our imaginations.  Everything you can image is real. Your consciousness creates it and your emotions makes it real. Smudge yourself first, cleanse the area you are in. Center yourself and Feel.

You will need a silver, chrome or black bowl of water for scrying with, gazing on to water.

Light four candles one by one starting in the East for the element of fire, this is the cosmological system I use but if you are pagan you begin in the South with Fire. Always move clockwise, wherever you start. Call in the four elements and directions. Call in the Holy Guardian Angels and your personal angel into the circle. If you have a soundtrack of the ocean or other watery soundscapes then put this on.

With your eyes closed go directly to Source. Listen only to your own heartbeat, the flow and pulsing rhythms of the blood in your veins and allow all thoughts to disperse like a drop of water on the ocean. Feel yourself melting away.

Know that YOU ARE, I AM the Source, space, the Light, God/dess consciousness and the Void, emptiness and All. You are a drop of water in a vast infinite consciousness and the Ocean itself.  Breathe and empty yourself, your ego. Just surrender, like the Hanged Man in the Tarot.

Feel the sense of expansion, watch the images or sense the feelings of expanding like a movie. Your consciousness is a great projection screen. Life really is like a movie. The eternal witness watches yourself, the people, and situations events, flicker by. You are the actor or actress, the watcher and creator, the director, producer of this great drama called Life. Understand that life is really a dream and just like Shakespeare said, all life is just a play and all the people on its stage are actors.

The children’s song “Row Row Row your boat

                                        Gently down the stream,

                                        Merrily, Merrily, Merrily, Merrily,

                                        Life is but a dream.

This little ditty is really a deep inner spiritual truth. Make it your mantra this month, whenever stuff comes up. The merrily merrily part is super important. Be happy, no sorrow, it is all an experiential dream for the soul.

Spiritual knowledge once experienced is eternal, beyond time. Separation from Source is an illusion. You are always whole, complete, beautiful, glorious, healed already. You are Divine love and Light. There is nowhere to go, you are everywhere and in everything. The ocean of truth is impervious to all shadows and darkness is its reality.

Like the Sufi song, The Ocean, refuses no river, no river.

In your meditation, in a darkened room by candlelight half close your eyes and gaze at the reflections on the water. Feel yourself being cleansed and bathed in the Clear Light of this Super Moon, feel yourself being renewed, made whole, like the Virgin Goddess who renews herself at will. Remember your birth in this lifetime, recapitulate that birth, remember and release it. Remember all the lifetimes of birth and death and rebirth. Know you are an eternal being of Light whose nature is Divine Love.

Behold your True Self reborn anew.

All you have to do is ask, be open and receive. Always give thanks and be grateful.  Slowly come out of your meditation. Write down or record your experience.  Reflect, like the Moon upon it. You can keep doing this meditation daily and I would recommend it until the next New Moon which is the Blood Mood Aries Lunar Eclipse September 27-28.

You may feel like staying home because home is a Cancerian place to be.   Cancer is all about family, especially the mother and children.

7 THINGS TO DO DURING EVERY CANCER MOON TIME

1. Be near water.  Cancer is a cardinal water sign so it is a must too spend time in water, near it and take lots of baths.

2. SCRY Meditate with a bowl of water. Scrying is an ancient method to enhance intuitive skills. Use a candle in the dark and gaze at the water’s surface, unconscious images will arise.  

3. Family get togethers. Call your mother at least.

4. FEED your stomach well. Cooking and improving nutrition Cancer rules the stomach. 

5. Volunteer,  some time to helping under privileged mothers, older women and/or children or at a Food Bank.

6. CRY, It’s your party and you can cry if you want to. Anywhere, anytime. Crying is healing. Let those emotions out. 

7. Remember your ancestors . Cancer is all about your roots, ancestors, honour them for their lives brought you here.

It’s a relatively easy Monday with nice dreamy, spiritual, creative, romantic, aspects from Neptune late in the day PDT/next morning EDT.
Do incubate a dream or two. I have had very in-depth dreaming the last few weeks.

Tuesday’s big news is JUPITER entering Virgo until September 2016. A whole new earthy, practical, accountable energy. Yes Virgo it is your year ahead. Dreams vs. Reality, Memorial day

I haven’t been writing since Thursday because I was out-of-town teaching a workshop. OMG I was so busy. I did readings for group participants all day Saturday and then had to do my workshop. It was 10 hours of not stop readings and talking. Whew. It was great, I love it, especially delivering workshops that are fun and educational, but I feel like I’m a vortex of spinning energy. There was a phenomenal group of very enthusiastic woman at the Grail springs Spa.  Thank you.

the Last week of May overview

The planets are aligned and aligning in some tuff spacey energy this week, most of it centering on planet Neptune. The tension is on at early but especially 8-9 degree of MUTABLE signs Pisces, Sagittarius and Gemini {also Virgo} this week.  If you have planets around these degrees you will feel the pressure of the squares. Take note of your birth chart. I have my Sun and Moon at these degrees.

Also this is a bit of sneak preview of BIG MUTABLE CROSS energy starting November 2015 and continuing into 2016 between JUPITER which will be in VIRGO starting August 11,2015. Jupiter Saturn in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces will be in a T-square which centers on the Gap between reality and illusion. I’ll write more later but you can get to taste it.

NEPTUNE is the most dreamy of all the planets, it is spiritual, creative, compassionate, inspirational, deluded, fantasy filled, the stream of the unconscious, Hollywood, Unity, wholeness, endings, camouflage, chameleons, dreamers, institutions, jails, magicians, oligarchs, the ocean, denial, drugs, addictions, genius and madness, soul mates and the feet.

Memorial day is about remebering, with Mercury Retrograde it will be a rich memorial day.

The Cardinal Cross energy ain’t over yet.This will surely play havoc on the world markets although the stock market will be closed in the U.S.  This aspect focus on the need for clean food and water. Recent World wide marches against MONSANTO are occurring but the media is repressing the news and thousands of people are protesting. Family affairs may go awry to put it mildly. Expect indigestion, reflux and even food poisoning, upset tummies and woman refusing to do traditional housekeeping roles. This is a suffragette energy.  Uranus brings out the freedom, anarchy, turn over the tables and fight “the man” mentality. So expect the unexpected on all levels. Be careful around fire, BBQ’s, and anything potentially dangerous. Family violence may erupt. Blended families and those of an egalitarian Aquarian open-minded nature fare better. Uranus is almost at a new decan.

MARS in GEMINI squares NEPTUNE  – Spacy cadets

Angry debates, accusations and confrontations against nefarious, secretive organizations dealing with oil, laundered money, the film industry or big Pharma.  Anything that has been sublimated may erupt over the cocktails. Addictions to food, TV, video games or porn become part of the conversation. Do be careful when driving, this is a dangerous drunken aspect.  Danger from high  tides, drowning, floods, pirate attacks at sea, and immigrant stowaways in the news this week, 

Ideally our minds should be tuned into the higher spiritual vibrations of Neptune seeing beyond duality.

Virgo Moon also opposes Neptune later today then squares Mars. 

We will be able to digest the sudden hits of information and chaos. The need to save and conserve. Neptune rules debt, and false money.  

In general this energy plays out all week.

Information will be very wonky on Wednesday. Expect delays and frustration levels to be extremely high.  It will be too easy to incite arguments. People will be acting defensively.

Mercury squares Neptune May 29 Awakening from the dream 

This is a dream review.. Do go back to the drawing board and rethink your visions and dream boards. Conversations can be very creative, imaginative and intuitive. Review old goals, and things you wished you would have said differently. Also a day to let go of being perfect and accept the flow. Rethink our addictions to wasting water, chasing false dreams and being abused by the medical and pharmaceutical industries and their drugs.

The weekend will feel dark, Goth, INTENSE, emotional, sexy, powerful, secretive, obsessive. 

SUN conjunct Mercury @ 12:55 pm EDT  at 8+ degrees GEMINI

This is the ICARUS aspect. Our minds are soaring too high, and can burn out in the duality of Gemini’s light.  It can be a very creative day, good for rehashing old ideas and shining them up again. This energy is very disonant with the Scorpio Moon energy. Saturday may leave you scratching your head about how pulled in two directions you are and having to live two roles. Energy will be roller-coaster ish. Stay hidden and avoid the conflicts.

International Water Day, Go with the flow

March 22 has been officially made International Water day since 1993 by the UN.

Water is our most precious resources.  And it will be running out, SOON. Reports of looming shortages world-wide our scary and real. We must conserve water now. Brazil is on high alert for only one year of water left.Three years of drought in California have taken a huge toll.

We waste too much. Most of that hidden water usage comes from eating meat. We waste water in our homes in the west, in our lifestyles while other die of sickness and disease from lack of fresh water. We think that water, like life will be in an endless supply. But it isn’t. The recent 30 degree Pisces solar eclipse points to an end of the water cycle.

We can’t GO WITH THE FLOW if there is no flow.

There is modern technology which can clean up water, the oceans and renew land. But changing weather patterns weather due to the Sun, pollution, global warming or whatever is what is in our faces now. The world is not “a wish fulfilling gem”- John Greene. We need to act. We need to be more conscious. Consciousness is what water symbolizes.

Do you dream of water? It is one of the common symbols. Water is the collective unconscious. We come into the world in the salty water of our mother’s wombs. 

Yes we could wring out all those water signs, Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces.  Just kidding.

Especially water and earth signs, you are naturally more in touch with the physical plane. Air and Fire signs need to learn to pay attention to the natural world.

Look at what you can do to save water. Even going meatless one day a week makes a difference. Use natural local plants and trees that grow in your surroundings and habitat rather than important exotic ones which require more watering. Forget lawns. Golf courses always give me a pain. Unless they recycle their water they are a huge gluttons. Get rain barrels. Don’t let taps run. Shorten showers or take one every other day.  Fix leaking taps. Use dish water on your garden. YOU can think of many clever ways to conserve water.
