August 1 is known as LAMMAS in the wiccan/pagan calendar of the 8 rounds of the wheel of the year

Lammas is aChristianized version meaning “loaf Mass.”

Lughnasad is its other name. We are half way to the AUTUMN Equinox now.

This feastival honors the Grain gods. IT’s a very very ancient festival. From the races before the Celts.

At this time of year, The Bees are Buzzing, or should be. Where have all the bees gone? Monsanto?

It is traditionally celebrated as the wake of the Sun KING, who is dying now in the waning of his own Light.

British witches celebrate it on August 6 this is a cross quarter station in the round of the year.  It occurs in relationship to Leo the Lion, the Royal watcher related to Archangel Raphael and the heart chakra and the deep emerald-green colour.

It was a time for communal festivities, crafts, jams, plays, dances, what we think of as a Renaissance fair.

A highlight of these festivals was a wheel set afire and rolled down a hill called  “Catherine wheels. ” Based on a mythological figure, her worshippers were the CATHARS or Cathari= heretics who were routed out by the Catholic Church. The word catharsis comes from the same Latin root.

BONFIRES are always part of this festival perhaps to give the Sun more light.

Celebrations include making cookie people figures and star cookies are baked in celebration.  It is time of anxious waiting, we are not yet assured of a harvest which will keep the people alive. It is  a time to free oneself from FEAR.  A snake dance is created going counter clock wise, bread figures are thrown into the bonfire to symbolize the burning up of one’s fears. Then one says what one hopes to harvest.

Symbols of STARS are held up. The High Priestess would say,

“MAY THE STAR OF HOPE BE WITHIN US ALWAYS.”

The coveners would eat the star cookies and celebrate.

He has lots of energy, is naive,idealistic, unformed, he is perceptive, curious, constantly seeking answers.  He is always questioning, and has a tumultuous energy, he is a bit like a small whirlwind. He loves information. Swords are the element of Air and the mind, which are meant to discern meaning. He may think he knows everything before he knows anything. He is quick to fight, defend his ideas which are still very new.

DIANA/Artemis is the MOON Goddess Herself.

She is Mistress of wild animals, as she derives from a very ancient cult of the BEAR, or the Big Dipper constellation. She is patroness of wild animals. She protects women in childbirth, and protects women and young girls from disease. The dear and the cypress tree are two of her symbols.   She symbolizes virgin ONENESS, as she is whole unto herself. Other attributes of the Goddess are trust and innocence. She is associated with water, the heart, feelings, emotions. She ritually renewed herself in a sacred spring . One of her main temples was in Ephesus Turkey, where the Goddess is shown with hundreds of breasts down the front of her body, symbolizing unconditional nurturing.

MEANING

When I first chose the card, the first image that popped into my head was Edward Snowden, now safe in Venezuela. Like the knave of swords, he is a brash brave, curios, information gatherer, and a 29th degree Gemini to boot, who used the pen as a weapon,which is way mightier than any sword.

The 2nd version of the Card, the Goddess version seems to seamless blend with the NEW MOON in Cancer symbolism which I wrote about in my previous article. The Goddess Artemis, is a young wild, exuberant Goddess. She is associated with women, water, nourishment, protection.

Emotions will be high on this New Moon. Mars is the ONLY planet in an AIR sign, and sometimes our emotions can overwhelm us. The element of air as detachment is necessary so that we can witness our emotions and not be engulfed by their immense power.

There are kids under 4-5 years old, mothers, and old people among those who were under gas and pressurised water attack. Acco…rding to reports, police doesn’t allow journalists to report or to take pictures from Gezi Park. They are also attacking with pressurised water business such as famous Divan Hotel that opened its doors to protestors running away from brutality. People are saying there are thousands of wounded inside of the hotel. People formed a human chain in front of the hotel to prevent police to attack. Another report says that people cannot leave the hotel because police is arresting whoever leaves. There are also unconfirmed reports that police shut down the metro and boats between Asia and Europe to stop people coming and joining the rest. Another report says that there is a jammer in the area to prevent TV stations’ broadcast. There are hundreds of wounded. There are a lot of missing kids, or kids who are separated from their families. Protestors are fighting with police. We need to send PEACE to ISTANBUL, as another police state crackdown is happening.

March 4, 2013 – SPACE – Bright Comet Pan-Starrs (C/2011 L4) is now inside the orbit of Mercury, brightening as it plunges toward the sun. Observers in the southern hemisphere report say they can see Pan-STARRS with the unaided eye in the evening sunset sky. Carl Gruber photographed the comet on March 2nd over the city lights of Melbourne, Australia: “Despite bad light and smog pollution, the comet’s nucleus was clearly visible to the naked eye as well as a small part of the tail,” says Gruber. Light curves show the comet is approaching 2nd magnitude, about as bright as the stars of the Big Dipper. Several important dates are approaching. On March 5th, Comet Pan-STARRS makes its closest approach to Earth (1.09 AU), followed on March 10th by its closest approach to the sun (0.3 AU). As Comet Pan-STARRS passes the sun, solar glare will make it difficult to see even as the nucleus vaporizes and brightens. By March 12th and 13th, the comet will reappear in the sunset skies of the northern hemisphere not far from the crescent Moon. –Space Weather

The comet will cross into Northern Latitudes around March 12 and will be visible early in the am. 

Walking my dog last night  in Toronto, I saw Jupiter directly in line with Aldebraran Michael’s Fixed Star, the bull’s eye. Jupiter is in Sidereal Taurus but Tropical Gemini.  That’s what I miss the most about not living in Arizona or even being up in Northern Ontario, seeing the Milky Way overhead, clothing the black night sky with a cloak of diamonds.

Something is definitely up, the universe is in a  synchonous reverberation with us, throwing pebbles at us to get our attention.
