Lesley, born Lesley Sue Goldstein was a Taurus born May 2 1946. I have no accurate birth time so use Noon. Famous for being a pop sensation at 16 years old in 1963 with “It’s My Party”  the singer-songwriter helped Quincy Jones score his first number one hit. Leslie followed up with a string of pop hits including Marvin Hamlisch’s first hit composition “Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows” in 1963.

“You Don’t Own Me” which was written by two men incidentally was truly the first Feminist pop anthem. Released in 1964 it held the number two position behind the Beatles, “I Want to Hold Your Hand.”  The song  continues to stand up and thrill today.

Lesley’s passionate vocals always carried any song. She continued to write songs and contributed “Out Here On My Own” to the hit 1980 movie FAME working with her songwriter brother, which won her an Academy Award nomination.

Born Lesley Sue Goldstein, she also came out as a lesbian later in her life. She and narrated a LGBT oriented public television show, In the Life  on American TV in the 2000’s.

Lets look at her chart in Life and at Death

Lesley was a double Taurus, with Sun and Moon in the sensuous and earthy practical sign. Ruled by Venus which gives a beautiful voice poise and lovely graceful features. Lesley had Venus plus Uranus conjunct the North Node in Gemini indicating she had a dual very charming nature and was a naturally great communicator and writer.

Uranus conjunct the North Node is someone who communicates a message of liberation, freedom and individuality, exactly the “You don’t own me” singers karmic message to the world.  Her songs will always be a freedom flag for youth with that Gemini energy.

The main T-square in her chart comes from Mercury in Aries opposite to Jupiter in Libra and square to Saturn at 19 degrees of Cancer. Lesley  was a hard-working young woman who was very mature at 16.  She managed to stay grounded and modest and managed to live a normal life in spite of the fame at such a tender age. She went on to to graduate from Sarah Lawrence College.

Lesley had Neptune, planet of artists and creatives conjunct to Chiron the wounded  healer in Libra opposite to her natal Mercury. She was a shy person, who felt self-conscious, yet sang out her pain.   ” Its my party and I’ll cry if I want to. “

Lesley also had Lilith at the 29th degree of Scorpio-one of the most powerful degrees in the Zodiac opposite to her natal Venus in Gemini. No wonder she sang “You don’t own me.” OMG that is Lilith’s popular anthem totally. This would also have been indicated her naturally being a lesbian.

Her passionate voice, natural leadership and star power comes from her Mars, Pluto conjunction in Leo. People were naturally drawn to her powerful voice and big-hearted delivery. She was every inch a star.

At her death of lung cancer, Feb 16 2015.

I am sorry to say that her natal Mercury, Saturn and Chiron the Wounded Healer were all under the pressure of the Cardinal Cross aspect from Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn, opposing, squaring and conjunct those planets. It’s tough.

A Ceres, Pluto, Moon conjunction at 14+ degrees of Capricorn opposite her natal Saturn is a very beautiful symbol of Lesley being called home to be comforted and held by the GREAT MOTHER in Death/Life.

Neptune is squaring Lesley’s Sun, which also symbolizes a peaceful death, an easy letting go of life and being carried by spiritual bliss to return to the Light and the Source.

The North Node in Aries is also conjunct to her Natal Neptune in Libra. Another a beautiful symbol for an artist who has done her work, given the gift of her soul and is now free to go back to Source.

Thank you Lesley from the millions of fans who loved your voice and your music. You will be treasured and remembered always. Namaste. Blessing to you.  a fan.
