The Leo New Moon at 5° is a wild ride. July 28 at 1:55 pm EDT. Jupiter also turns Retrograde hours later.

Leo rules the heart, the will, it’s daring dramatic and powerful. There’s so much hi-tension going on. I explain it all. New moons last approximately 2.5 days until the first sliver appears.

JUPITER turns Retrograde- i wrote about that already. see previous article. The building URANUS NORTH NODE MARS conjunction occurs starting on July 31 and is exact August 1, I will do a separate article about that.

There’s a mighty powerful GRAND FIXED SQUARE at the NEW MOON as Mars URANUS NN is square MERCURY in LEO is SQUARE the SOUTH NODE in SCORPIO and SATURN in AQUARIUS. This is one hell of a set to break loose energy.

It’s also dangerous dramatic, hot, fiery, temperamental,and Radioactive.

Fairies, Midsummer Night dreams 2021

Midsummer Night Fairy Magick Sun Celebration

June 20 is the Peak of the SUN’s LIGHT, the MASCULINE FIRE in the Northern Hemisphere. The longest night of the year in the North, its a time of celebration. As the sun peaks everything shifts gradually into the DARK FEMININE ENERGY begins to grow stronger until December 21st when it peaks then the powers are switched again. This is the balance of everything that exists in the Universe. We need these complimentary opposites.

The SUN is sitting on the TROPIC OF CANCER and in Tropical astrology we say the Sun has entered the sign of Cancer.

This is the PAGAN Cardinal Cross Quarter day of LITHA. 

As Summer begins in the North here in 2021 we are not quite getting out of months of lockdown due to Covid-19. Time to celebrate, Life is green, the living colours of flowers are everywhere and abundant. The air smells sweet, bees are buzzing. We are growing our own food in our gardens or containers. We are soaking up the rays.  The Goddess is symbolically Pregnant with the child she conceived at Spring equinox.

JUPITER the planet of expansion is in its home rulership in PISCES the Sign of dreams, visions, the last sign, the house of magic and imagination as Jupiter turns RETROGRADE at 8:06 am PDT/ 11:06 am EDT/3:06 pm GMT.

We have been floating in a DREAMLAND of Pisces fairyland waters since May 13/14. This is very significant for this SOLSTICE season.

The Bonfire

Bonfires are lit on hilltops, by holy wells, and at a sacred place, to honour the fullness of the Sun. People danced around and leap through the flames. Traditionally people stayed up all night on Midsummer’s Eve to welcome the sunrise. Coals from the Midsummer fire were scattered on fields to ensure a good harvest, you can scatter them in your garden

Midsummer is one of the most powerful nights for MAGICK,

Especially healing prayers, love magick, energy, protection and purification. It’s a time of gratitude for family and friends. Reflect on the progress of the seeds that you planted in the earth. A great time to get rid of patterns and objects that no longer serve your Higher Self. 

The Fairy Queen and the fairies are said to be out riding on MidSummer Night 

This is the time to strengthen your connection with the Fae or Fairie and otherworldly beings,

Honour the Fairies 

Create a fairie house in your yard or even in your window. Remember that fairies are very mischievous so be careful. Place spirit boundaries around your house, and protect yourself from their pranks while outside. Wear garlands of marigolds, ivy and or St. John’s Wort. White lily petals, rue and oatmeal in your pockets or in baskets help in protection. Bury a Witch Bottle, a glass container filled with sharp objects such as pins, nails and needles, ashes and salt before entrances to your home for protection.

Leave treats for the Fairies. They love sweets of all kinds. Leave offerings outside in the woods a park or your yard or windowsill.  Leave herbs, ribbons, seashells and bowls of milk outside to gift the Faeries.

Bless the animals.

Ancient herders brought a token animal to be blessed to protect their herds. Ask for protection and blessings for pets, livestock and wildlife.Have a Feast 

Some great summer dishes include seafood, watermelon, berries, lemonade, summer squash, and baked potatoes. 

Renew and clean Your Altar

Litha is a great time to clean, cleanse and re-decorate your altar for the Summer season. Take everything off of your altar, clean it, then cleanse it with dried Cedar, Sage, honeysuckle or other sweet incense or sweetgrass smoke. Add summer yellows to and golds to your altar.

Honor any solar deities with offerings and prayers Some of the sun gods and goddesses are Ra, Horus, Huitzilopochtli Aztec Sun and War God, Irish Goddess Aine, Celtic Sun God Belenos, Greek Sun God Helios, Roman Apollo, Etain Irish Sun Goddess, Yuyi, Taoist God of the Sun, Macha, Irish Goddess of women, Sunna, Norse Goddess of the Sun and many more.

The Midsummer Moon is also known as the HONEYMOON, where this term originated. Mead is made, handfasting ceremonies are performed. Mead is considered to be a magical life-enhancing drink, You can make an altar to honour the Oak tree, with their leaves. Sunflowers are also a great example.  Magical baking and charms are created on this special day. Traditionally this festival spans three days. This year it is June 20-23rd.

Buttermilk Bread 

To bring abundance to your kitchen. Sunflower seeds represent the light half of the year and the poppy seeds represent the dark half of the year.

You will need:

3 cups of white flour, preferably bread flout type.

500 ml of Buttermilk 

I tsp.of bicarbonate of soda

Sunflower and poppy seeds for sprinking

Red ribbon and a sprig of rosemary

Place the flour in a large bowl. Make a well in the centre. Sieve in the blended salt and soda and pour in the buttermilk. Mix well with a wooden spoon until the dough feels springy. If it feels too sloppy just add a little more flour. Turn it onto a board and cover with a fine dusting of flour. Pat it with your hands until you have a round shape. Take a sharp knife and score lightly into eight sections, one for each festival. Sprinkle half of the loaf with poppy seeds and the other half with sunflower seeds.

Place onto a greased baking tray and pop your buttermilk bread into a moderate oven for about 20-25 minutes. Keep and eye on it. When the bread is ready it will change colour and it will sound hollow when you tap the bottom. Cool completely on a wire rack. When it is cool, place your sprig of rosemary on top and tie the red ribbon across the middle.

Consecrate the bread by turning the loaf three times saying “From the fields and through the stones, into fire, Midsummer Bread, as the Wheel turns may all be fed. Goddess Bless.”

Take your bread and share it with your family, friends or whoever you would like to bless. Eat it fresh, as soon as it is made if you can. 

Elderflower Champagne

Elderflowers peak at Midsummer. Pick them in the fullness of a sunny day, ideally on Midsummer’s Day. The Elder is sacred to the Mother Goddess and is often called the Witch’s Tree, the Elder Mother, or Queen of the Trees. It is protective, with wonderful healing properties. It aids transformation, change and renewal, this drink will aid in transforming your life. Or drink Elderberry Liqueur.

In Canada, Strongbow makes an elderflower cider. 

Ingredients:

8 litres water

1.25 kg sugar

8 large elderflower heads

4 lemons

4 tablespoons mild white wine vinegar

Do use screw-top bottles. Large plastic bottles are good. This is a fizzy drink, if not bottled tightly it can explode! Keep it somewhere safe. Make sure the elderflowers are clean and pick them when the sun is strongest. 

Boil the water and dissolve the sugar into it, organic sugar is best.

When the water cools, add the elderflowers, the juice of two of the lemons and slices of the other two, plus the vinegar.

Cover with a clean cloth and leave for a day.

Strain through a fine sieve or piece of muslin, carefully squeezing the flowers to extract as much flavour as possible.

Store in clean screw-top bottles.

Leave alone for 10 days or so. Drink within a month. Enjoy and give thanks to the Spirit of the Elder.

Honey Cake

A celebration of a sweet life. 

If you can source locally produced honey its the best. Wherever it comes from always thank the precious Bees. 

Ingredients:

225 gram Butter 1 cup
250 gms Honey or 1 cup 
100 gms Dark Muscovado Sugar, 3.5 ounces by weight 
3 Eggs, beaten
300 gms Self-Raising Flour, 1 1/2 cups 

Cut the butter into pieces and heat slowly, adding the honey and the sugar. When fully melted, turn up the heat and boil the mixture for one minute. Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Add the beaten eggs to the cooled honey mixture. Sift the flour into a large bowl and beat the liquid honey mixture into it until you have a smooth batter. Pour the mixture into a round lined sponge tin and bake in a preheated oven at 160 C for about 50 mins – or until the cake is well-risen and springs back to the touch. Cool on a rack and glaze with a few tablespoons of warm honey. A nice sweet treat.

JUPITER TURNS RETROGRADE ON THE SOLSTICE

We are doing the backstroke from 2 degrees Cancer back into  Aquarius July 28 until October16 where Jupiter stations at 22 degrees 20′ Aquarius which is where it was on March 26/27. That’s a rewind of over 6 months. Both the Summer and Autumn Equinox has Jupiter Retrograde we will feel like we may be spinning our wheels. We will have to pick up our stitches from there before moving on to 2 degrees Pisces in January 9/10 2022. Addictions, debt, inflation, deflated expectations, projections, rehab and VIRUSES are all part of Jupiter in PISCES. 

JUPITER Retrograde in  AQUARIUS IS a RE-revolution

Three planets Retrograde in step Astrology

“As above, so below” is the old Hermetic maxim. But this time it’s more like “here we are, they’re following us.”

As the world is still in quarantine lockdown unable to move forward now, three planets SATURN, VENUS AND JUPITER all turn RETROGRADE within 4 days of each other in step May 10-14th. We, the world and these three planets are all turning back time and not moving forwards.

Be careful what you wish for. 21 Pilots hit song “stressed out” lyrics “If I could turn back time, to the good old days.” has come true. You see the power of the WORD. We won’t feel so alone now with father time Saturn, Beautiful sexy artistic Venus and wise-cracking optimist Jupiter in the crib.

DO NOT PANIC!

Retrogrades are not to be feared. That fearmongering Fishing clickbait is BS.

Rx is the Retrograde symbol, meaning it is good medicine. Remember everything starting with RE is a clue and a key to how to work all retrograde periods with any planet..Retrogrades are times to Reflect, Renew, Reuse, Regain, Release, Renegotiate, Redact, conversations, ideas communications, and old loves may return under Venus Retrograde . Be sure you won’t regret it.

They are all “personal planets.” Saturn, the ringed planet of REALITY, hard knocks, limitations, maturity, Father Time, the Grim reaper goes backwards from AQUARIUS to CAPRICORN.

GEMINI and CAPRICORN are directly aspected. TAURUS and LIBRA affected by Venus rulership and, SAGITTARIUS and PISCES by Jupiter rulership are the main signs affected. But we are all affected. 

VENUS planet of love, women, money and beauty, always the big fave turns RETROGRADE in GEMINI sign of the noncommital lovers, then Bountiful JUPITER does the backstep in Capricon.

As some states and countries may be opening up the quarantine’s from Covid-19 I simply don’t see it with all this Retrograde action. Venus’ Retrograde is the shortest and only happens once every 19 months but is the most personally meaningful. Jupiter and Saturn turn Retrograde for many months every year.

Saturn Retrograde May 10/11 to September 29

All CAPRICORN’S born JANUARY 16/17 to January 21st/22nd will feel the transit the most as Saturn steamrolls back over those degrees. Any sign with Capricorn and Aquarius planets at these degrees on their RISING, NODES etc will also feel the effects the strongest and personally

Saturn the hard task masker, Father Time, the Grim Reaper, ruler of seniors, testing, obstacles and limitations, depression, heaviness has only given us an Aquarian appetizer since entering the airy hi-tech humanitarian sign on March 21. We must REmember what we took for granted every day, We must Remember what our “normal” lives were like and not forget. Saturn rules the bones and our ancestors its important to connect to the wisdom of the elders and to respect the ancestors who made it possible for us to be surviving now. Arthritic problems and knees especially are Saturnine.

Saturn is associated with fascism and dictatorships and his conjunction with Powerful Pluto on January 12 predicated the Covid-19 virus along with Neptune in Pisces. Pluto also Retrograde now since April 25 takes us deeper into the collective shadows in the world. Absolute power and control using any ruthless means are what Saturn and Pluto are really all about. So let’s take stock of what the hell has been going on. Saturn is reality and our reality needs a good review. At the end of September as Saturn turns Direct freedom and responsibility our ours to take.

The last time Venus was Retrograde in Gemini close to these degrees was in 2012 when VENUS made a very rare occultation of the SUN. It won’t happen again in our lifetime. This Venus Retrograde could pick up threads from where we were then.

As Mercury rules Gemini it’s a good time to review your marketing plan, website blog or socoal media. Also review your love life plan, what do you want in love? Gemini’s tend to be noncommittal its time to talk to your heart about what it wants. And rethink how what and why you communicate and think as you have been.  Are you conversing comes from your heart or your head? Are you loving what runs through your head? How to use Jupiter Retrograde to Rejuvenate your life

Jupiter will turn his big back on us as he turns RETROGRADE, as he does every year, on Feb 5th/6th @ 23+ degrees LIBRA and the BIG PLANET will Retrograde back to 13 degrees 13 minutes until June 8/9th. RETROGRADE planetary times get a bad rap but they are very important and ought to be used very positively.

This means its REJUVENATION time!

As Jupiter is the planet of optimism, faith, trust, foreigners, freedom, risk taking, gambling, religion, truth, higher education, honesty, justice, politics, the military and travel as ruler of SAGITTARIUS and PISCES all of these things will now go SOUTH. Restrictions on these things is already being set up and will be reviewed. This is not a time to move forwards. Do not gamble. 

 Over the next four months things contract. All of the forward progress made will be poured over, investigated, re-examined, sent back to the courts, as many laws will be repealed maybe over and over again. Back to the drawing boards to overhaul, pick apart and rebalance in all phases of your life. RE-examine your goals, education plans, business expansion, health, investments and your spiritual path.

Do you remember PUSSY RIOT? They were on trial, jailed, whipped by police in public and incarcerated for a long time for daring to stand up to the old Russian Orthodox religion. They did an art performance in a church that was what they did wrong. The Republicans are trying to make it illegal for protesters to protest. This is Fascism in the making. WOMEN must lead the fight or loose their rights.

Venus will move into her next phase where she will become the MORNING STAR during this phase. Venus is the ancient myth of INANNA who goes through a shamanic death and rebirth initiation into the underworld. She leaves her consort Dumuzi on her throne. She is instructed to take off every vestige of her royal accouterments until she is reduced to being a rotting piece of meat on a hook. Her sister Ereshkigal is like Persephone, Inanna’s opposite, the QUEEN of the UNDERWORLD. Inanna has helpers who come and rescue her, she eventually recovers her life, her flesh and restores herself and returns to the Upperworld to find Dumuzi partying and forgotten about Inanna and drunk with his own power. Inanna has him dispatched and sent away. She regains her throne sets her Queendom straight and engages in this endless cycle of rebirth as a Virgin Queen whole and complete unto herself over and over again since time out of mind. 

We need to integrate INANNA’s archetypal story into our own lives. What outward symbols of power and ego needs do we need to give up?  Who are we when we are reduced to our essence? This is a dark night of the soul aspect. Jupiter represents hope and when Inanna is all alone and barely conscious, that is what this symbolizes. The Dark Night of the SOUL is what the world is encountering as Jupiter and Venus both retrograde.

If people don’t get off their asses now and fight, fight, fight, for their democratic rights every day, while the planets are retrograde and major changes can be redressed removed, rescinded, etc. then they are doomed. Please get off your couches and act.  If people got as enthralled with their freedom and rights as they do about the Super Bowl or Beyonce’s pregnancy or The Bachelor the world would be very different and much better. 

SATURN TURNS RETROGRADE on April 5/6 until AUGUST 25 

SATURN, LORD of reality, seniority, seniors, the Lord of Death, SATAN, turns RETROGRADE @ 27degrees 38 minutes of SAGITTARIUS exactly on the GALACTIC CENTER.  

That is a very profound symbol. Reviewing the law, who is in charge, corporate structure. Saturn turns DIRECT @ 21 degrees SAGITTARIUS on AUGUST 25th.It will take until NOVEMBER 29/30 until Saturn actually moves forwards.

SATURN RETROGRADE is restructuring, reordering, and resetting your reality.

The most important word to remember in a JUPITER Retrograde is REJUVENATE.  One of JUPITER’s other names is Jove, which is the same as Jehovah or God. To rejuvenate literally means to return to God, or the God force within. Spend a lot of time meditating, searching and asking for the answers within. The only authority to listen to is your own higher self or guardian angel. There is no outside authority that has the power to make you do anything against your will or unconscious agreement. 

In dissecting any astrology chart Retrograde planets represent karma. 

Do use these next few months to examine deeply your own unconscious beliefs and shadows. Jupiter symbolizes trust, Venus is LOVE, Saturn is the Mother, the earth and structure. It would be a good time to do past life regression, dream recall, and recapitulation.
