Lorne Michaels, Celebrating SNL40 Astrology

Thank you Saturday Night Live for making our lives funnier, richer and more enlightening for generations. SNL is celebrating 40 years of Television comedy broadcasts. I love comedy. Who doesn’t? I have always felt that comedy is the best medicine. You can sneak almost any satiric, ironic statement in through comedy in a way that is very effective. We need to be able to laugh at ourselves.

SNL cast for 40 years

 SNL has become a cultural icon. The show has nurtured and launched numerous funny people to stardom.  Bill Murray, Jimmy Fallon, Eddie Murphy, Tina Fay, Amy Poehler, Kristin Wiig, Will Farrell,  Adam Sandler, Billy Crystal, Mike Meyers, Dan Akroyd are just some of the cast members who make us laugh in so many ways. 

I think I started watching SNL in 1976. I have tuned in over the years off an on for many a Satuday night.

Behind SNL is the “God of comedy” producer  Lorne Michaels. Born in  Toronto, Canada, I went to the same High School as Lorne, Vaughan Road Collegiate and my older cousin Carol was in his class.

Who is Lorne Michael’s? What are the planetary influences behind his success allowing him to helm so much creativity for all these years. Since April 3, 2013 Lorne is also the executive producer of the Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon. 

Lorne said “comedy is so clear.”

Lorne is a SCORPIO born November 17, 1944 in Toronto as Lorne Lipowitz. I have no exact birth time so I am using noon for a famous public personality. Here’s his Natal chart with the October 11, 1975 transits of the very first broadcast of Saturday Night Live with the Not Ready For Prime Time Players. 

Scorpio’s love to be in control. Lorne has Mars, Scorpio’s ruling planet conjunct his Sun amping up his amazing  eagle eye ability to focus, hone in on and be in power. Lorne is confident, a warrior, a martial artist to whatever he puts his sites on and he can certainly be intimidating. He can be very volatile and has a big temper. For this noon chart the SUN where you shine the brightest, with Mars is in the 10th house of worldly fame. Lorne has always been fiercely driven to achieve his goals.

Where does the comedic ability come in? Glad you asked. Sagittarius is the sign of Humor. Lorne has the Moon in Sagittarius conjunct to Mercury the planet of communications. This makes him an excellent communicator, he graduated from University as an Enlish major in Toronto. Further strengthening his luck in comedy is the fact that Jupiter, the ruling planet of Sagittarius is squaring his Natal Moon from the sign of the perfectionist, detail oriented, hard-working Virgo. Yes comedic analysis is Lorne’s calling his vocation and he is a workaholic.

Lorne’s good-humored Sagittarius moon is also why he married into a comedic dynasty. His first wife, Rosie Shuster was the daughter of famed Wayne & Shuster comedy duo, another Canadian icon legacy. 

Lorne was destined to be off the wall, push the edges of comedy and be unique because he has the planet of weird, wacky, freedom loving, revolutionary planet Uranus in GEMINI opposite to his Moon. Lorne has that infamous Gemini-ish two sides to him. He stays very young because his mind is always open and questioning.  Lorne has always been analytically inventive, someone who pushes the edge emotionally and in communications, He is a strong person who has always marched to his own drummer, and been quite a wild card.

Lorne has a Cardinal T-square in his chart between Venus in Capricorn opposite Saturn in Cancer  in square to Neptune,which is also conjunct to Lilith at zero degrees of Libra.. He has always been very mature, disciplined and hard-working with Saturn opposite Venus. He is  practical and respects order.

Lorne’s Saturn in Cancer is conjunct to the U.S. Sun at 13 degrees, making him destined to work in the U.S. This makes him the patriarch and family nurturer and protector. Everyone who works for him is part of his family, although he expects respect and loyalty. Lilith conjunct Neptune is interesting. Neptune in Libra, a generational sign, is spiritually his gift is to be a go-between, an ambassador, a champion of the underdog and the taboo. He has also championed many women, who would have had no place to speak in society, Tina Fey acknowledged this fact about Lorne.

Lorne’s North Node in Cancer indicates he is to use his past life experiences of structuring, building and business acumen to nurture and provide a safe nurturing space for others. 

OCTOBER 11,1975 first SNL broadcast.

At the first SNL broadcast in 1975 the transiting planets, Pluto and Neptune were in an exact sextile at 9 degrees Libra/Sagittarius. Pluto rules the collective unconscious and Neptune the dreams, illusions, escapism, addictions, and the medium of film and TV. Sextiles are easy energy flow.

Transiting Pluto was conjunct to Lorne’s natal Neptune and Neptune was conjunct to his natal Mercury, Moon in Sagittarius bringing easy powerful benefits. Pluto also rules Scorpio’s amplifying Lorne’s abilities. Mercury Retrograde was also sextiling his Natal Moon Mercury combo. Mercury Retrograde by transit indicates the thinking out of the box, original mentality.

Pluto is the soul and Neptune the dream. SNL was born as these two planets were also in sextile to his Natal Pluto in Leo at 10 degrees. Pluto in Leo is leadership, royalty, self-expression, giving love. Its amazing in retrospect to see how the planets were perfectly aligned to assist Lorne and why it all came together at that time.

For the collective, Saturn and Uranus were also in an exact square at 1 degree Leo to Scorpio Uranus was also sextiling Lorne’s natal Venus.

Jupiter was in Aries at 2o degrees in 1975 trining Lorne’s Moon and his North Node at 19 degrees Cancer. 

The Moon was in Capricorn having just passed over Lorn’s Natal Venus. Capricorn Moon’s indicates staying power, longevity, weight.

Jimmy Fallon, The Tonight Show Astrology by Tara Greene

An historic new incarnation of the Tonight SHow begins Feb 17 2014 PST/Feb 18 at midnight EST as Jimmy Fallon takes over as the latest host of the long running late night TV show. 

Interestingly the Tonight Show on NBC is turning 60 years old this year.

On September 27 1954 it began with Steve Allen as the host. Then Jack Paar, then the longest running JOHNNY CARSON for 30 seasons,then Jay Leno  1992- 2009,Conan O’ Brien’s short stint of 6 months then back to Jay who just retired Feb 6 2014 after 22 years.

Jimmy Fallon ushers in a new era as host of the  Tonight Show back in New York City from California since 1972. Jimmy is not the youngest host. But I think that fact that his name begins with a J seems to fit the host role best.  I find it really strange that Jimmy Fallon’s side man Steve Higgins looks exactly like the original host STEVE ALLEN as id he came backto be part of the show somehow.

Jimmy came to stardom via SNL from 1998-2004 where he co-hosted the news with Tina Fey. He started the Late Night show March 2, 2009 till a few weeks ago.

A charming, boyishly handsome triple threat,  Jimmy does comedy,sings and plays guitar and acts. Jimmy is up to the minute tech savvy, Twitter hashtag user, a musical parodist who laughs heartily at his own jokes. 

OK so lets see who JIMMY FALLON is from his Astrology chart.

Born September 19 1974 in Brooklyn New York.I have no accurate birth time so use NOON for a public celebrity.   

JIMMY is Surprise! a VIRGO.

A practical, hard-working perfectionist, analytical, sharp minded, loves to serve people, quite humble. Jimmy also has VENUS, how he wants to be loved, what he loves, also in VIRGO. Jimmy wants you to love him for his work and his smarts.

Chiron is conjunct to his Natal Jupiter opposite his natal Venus in Virgo, he has found his Holy Grail. He will also cure the ills of a nation whose Economic woes {Virgo} aren’t very funny right now. Jimmy will distract us from what really aches us. Jimmy’s Neptune is also getting very close to Square his Natal Neptune. This is a dream come true for him. He needs to be careful of his health, any alcohol or drugs, even Prescription meds now.  I believe Jimmy’s Moon must be later in Scorpio and that Saturn is crossing his Moon now. Saturn conjunct the Moon would indicate a huge responsibility, a maturity, a taking on of the mantle of power.  That would also give Jimmy a Gemini Ascendant as I mentioned.

My Dad used to watch The Tonight Show when Steve Allen was the original host. So I have known about it all my life. When I was a kid, my dad always told jokes. I nicknamed him my funny Daddy and I adored him for that. My secret wish was always wished to be a comedian as I feel it is really the best career one could have.  I’ll be watching you tonight.
