The Fiery Goddess Awakens
On a secular level Bill Murray’s famous comedy is a spiritual teaching metaphor which gained wide appeal and is considered a classic fable/comedy 20 years after its initial release.  Bill Murray plays a cynical newscaster who keeps waking up on Groundhog Day living a deja vu, being stuck in time and immortal. Eventually, he figures out that being kind and nice and improving himself is the best thing to do. He learns to care and love and wins the love of his colleague and is free to move on from being stuck in his karmic lessons and live his life.

Feb. 1st –2nd Traditional Irish and Pagan Holiday Celebrations

Saint Brigid’s Day,or Bride’s Day, is both a Catholic and Pagan Celebration of an ancient Goddess tradition. Christians overlaid the Ancient Goddess holiday renaming it Candlemas or the fest of the Purification of the Virgin

In the Tarot Brigid would be the Queen of Wands or The Woman on the Strength card.

Triple Goddess/Saint Brigid/Bride

According to scholar Robert Graves, Brigid is the most Ancient Triple Goddess worshipped since time out of mind. The Goddess rules scholars and poets.  She is said to rule over people who work with cows and chickens, brewers, fugitives, midwives, infants, printers, sailors, travelers, New Zealand, & Irish nuns.

This day symbolizes a time of transitions, initiations, new beginnings, of planting seeds that will sprout later. Brigid/Birgita represents the light half of the year, and new growth.
If you are uncertain of your path imagine yourself at a four-cornered crossroads, or go to an actual one and invoke Brigid to show you which path to take.

Goddess of Augury, prophets and seers. Celtic seers divined by looking into deep water and into flames. This is a great time to do divination with either.
Elements- Water and fire

Brigid rules the Waters and wells. Many healing springs are dedicated to Brigid. Natural bodies of water also signify Her presence, particularly where three streams joined together. Good time to take a special healing water bath or shower in Brigid’s honor.

She is the Goddess of fire and inspirations, poetry, creativity, smithcraft and healing. It is customary to make candles for the coming year and bless them on this day.

Protecting Goddess

In her aspect as Brigantia, she carries a flaming spear, an orb of victory, and wears a war crown. She symbolizes protection of the country from invaders and slavery. The name “Britain” is derived from Brigit’s name. Britain’s symbol, the Goddess Brigantia, is still found on their 50 cent coin is Brigid.

Midwives

As Patroness of Midwives, she was invoked at the door of the home where the woman was giving birth, by the midwife. Brigid guards every newborn, their cradles protected with a woven Brigit’s Cross, an equal-armed cross.

Brigid Ruler of the Hearth

Especially in Gaelic Scotland, Brigid’s dolls are placed near the hearth on her Feast Day. The doll is usually dressed in white, decorated. A white wand is placed in her bed as a fertility charm. As she is patroness of agriculture, pastures, livestock, and abundance. An offering is made to her of dairy products. The Brigid doll is kept throughout the year near the hearth hung on a wall, or by a door, as a talisman of protection, then burnt the next year.

RITUAL for Brigid
INCENSE: Rosemary, Frankincense, Myrrh, Cinnamon

Gemstones: Turquoise, Amethyst, Garnet and Onyx
Your house especially the hearth needs to be cleaned and purified  to make way for Brigid to bless your house all year-long. Light a candle and carry it into every room to welcome her.
 Call her
Bride of the earth, keeper of the Eternal Flame
daughter of the Tuatha de Danaan, sister of faeries,
She comes to waken the earth from its slumber,
to strengthen the Sun’s rays,
She bring warmth and light  back once more
and sets seeds slowly stirring below our Mother earth
Her Light is ever eternal, waxing and waning,
Brigid light my heart and my passion afire anew .

Light a Candle and Invoke the Goddess at this time-
I kindle this candle in the name of Brighid, Goddess of Smiths,

BRIGID is alive and well.

Light 1 candle-

We gather together in this time of darkness. We look to the return of the light.

We look to the first light of Spring.

(Light two more candles.)

Maiden, Mother, and Crone – A Triple Goddess.

It was customary to write wishes upon scraps of cloth

and tie them to the bushes near her sacred wells.

This is Her Time of Year, a very special moment.

A day upon which to seek wisdom from inside the Earth.

In the time before Patrick, serpents were sent out because they dwell in both worlds, above ground and below.

Groundhog Day, Deja Vu

Groundhog Day Deja Vu.

“Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”- George Santayana, in The Life of Reason, 1905

Significant words.

February 2nd in modern secular times we have the mash-up of Candlemas and Groundhog day.

Groundhog Day has become an icon for the literal theme of the movie about “seeing your shadow” which the groundhog may or may not do on Feb 2.  The Movie, starring Bill Murray from  1993 directed and written by Harold Ramis, has the protagonist in a karmic time loop. He woke up every day experiencing the same things over and over and he cannot die.

The message is: WHAT KARMIC LESSONS are you still stuck on and repeating over and over, like Phil Connors in the film?

Ground hog day/Dejavu Tara Greene

Make this your Groundhog day mantra.

Where am I stuck in my life?  What am I resisting?

Why do I keep repeating the same old same old same old lessons?

Why is the collective unconscious so unconscious that we keep repeating these same old boring lessons?

Jupiter Venus astrology Tara Greene

This is very valid considering what’s going on in the world these days.

The Moon is in Firey impatient ARIES and involved in CARDINAL CROSSES with Pluto Uranus, MERCURY and JUPITER.

To amplify it MERCURY and JUPITER in LIBRA are in square in the morning

This will be a high tension day. Be careful of people shooting off at the mouth, getting angry very quickly and wanting to fight. Try to contain your inner fire. JUPITER in LIBRA is all about being balanced. With so much pressure we are pushed to the limits to find some peace and balance. But it is all within us.

The MOON trines SATURN IN SAGITTARIUS

speaking in truth tongues will inspire all. The MOON goes VOID early in the morning/day in PST and EST.

Things begin to simmer down as the MOON enters Lazy TAURUS and the needs of our bodies become first priority. That happens at 5:50 pm PST/ 8:50 pm EST/ Feb 3 @ 1:50 am GMT.

VENUS is at the very last degree of PISCES

This is a karmic ending to a love cycle which began over a year ago.Integrate all of the love lessons you need to right now.

VENUS quickly enters ARIES Feb 3 @ 7:51 am PST/ 10:51 am EST/ 3:51 pm GMT

I will be reading Tarot cards for an event for the Toronto Stock Exchange in the evening.

Just remember the famous song from Groundhog Day.

“I GOT YOU, BABE.”

Witches Fire festival, Celebrating Goddess Brigid

Feb. 2 is a very powerful cross-quarter day in the 8 spoked wheel of the year. Goddess Brigid’s Day is celebrated as IMBOLC or CANDLEMASS, an ancient pagan, Wiccan Festival of the quickening of the light. Catholics, who had to add the ancient holidays onto their new Catholic ones, celebrate this as the Feast of the Purification of Mary.

Popularly known as GROUNDHOG DAY, the movie starring Bill Murray is a classic film based on some very spiritual ideas about Karma.

Jung,4 elements, tara Greene

This day marks the Goddesses’ coming out for the first time after giving birth to the SUN at Winter solstice. Visualize this time as the baby sun nursing from the Goddess’s breast. Traditionally all women had a 6 week “lying in” period after giving birth where they stayed in their homes with their newborns to ensure the mother-child bond and to make the infant stronger. Mother and child were tended in all ways with food, and any other needs by family friends the community, or doulas.

This day is a Sabbat of purification after the shut-in life of Winter. A festival of light and fertility, it was once marked in Europe with huge blazes and fires everywhere. Fire symbolizes our own illumination and inspiration as well as light and heat. Also called the Feast of Torches, Oimelc, Lupercalia, Feast of Pan, Snowdrop Festival, and the Feast of the Waxing Light.

The old Scandinavian custom was to wear crowns of lit candles but most practitioners carry candles during their invocations and ceremonies.

This date celebrates the changing of the Goddess from the CHRONE back to the MAIDEN. It celebrates the very earliest signs of Spring and the noticeable lengthening of the days in the Northern hemisphere.

It is also a day of celebrating the Celtic Goddess Brigid. Brigid is the Goddess of Poetry, Healing, Smithcraft, and Midwifery.

Groundhog Day Imbolc

She is a triple Goddess, honor her in all her aspects. Her symbols are serpents, representing the sacred fire of sexuality. All ancient Goddesses knew the sacred secrets of Tantric sexuality, healing, and transformation. Brigid governed wells. There is still a holy well in Ireland where she is workshopped. This is both a fire and water celebration, the balance of masculine and feminine energies.

This is a time for communing with Brigid, for tending to and the lighting of your own sacred flame, the KUNDALINI fire of sexual tantric transformation.

This is a good time for initiations, into covens or self-initiations. Initiations of all kinds are the order of the day.

The TAROT card that would accompany this Festival would be the ACE OF WANDS

The planets are well placed to support the fire and the water.

The MOON is in ARIES for most of the day in PST and EST. Mars is strong in ARIES. The Moon trines Saturn in Fiery SAGITTARIUS in the morning. VENUS is at the last critical degree of watery PISCES. JUNO, the feminine form of genius is at the last degree of SAGITTARIUS. CERES is at the last degree of ARIES.

As a Purification Day

Use water and salt to purify yourself. Wash your hands and face in salt water. Sprinkle salt water which you have blessed charging it. Sprinkle it in every corner of your home. Water is the most important element. Water transmutes all hardness, breaks down anything over time. Water also symbolizes the emotions. We need to purify our emotional bodies as well.

The waters of the earth these days needs our help and intentions. The oceans are polluted from Fukushima, from oil spills, fracking and toxins being poured into the rivers and lakes. Send your intention to see the earth’s waters running clear pure, cleansed. Bathing in Himalayan salt water while burning red candles would be appropriate.

Brigid, GODDESS OF CREATIVITY

Do something creative, read poetry, suspend your critical mind and allow your left brain consciousness to take over and allow a pure stream of consciousness to write a poem, sing, or dance. Dedicate a future work to Her.

IMBOLC RITUAL

At sunset or just after a ritual, light every lamp in the house – if only for a few moments. Or, light candles in each room in honor of the Sun’s rebirth. If snow lies on the ground outside, walk in it for a moment, recalling the warmth of summer. With your projective hand, trace an image of the Sun on the snow.

FOODS TO EAT

Imbolc marks the first calving and dairy dishes are traditionally consumed. You could eat yogurt or sour cream. If you are on non-dairy, honor the cows with a statue of a cow, or transmute your non-dairy soya, oat milk, almond milk or coconut milk to  honor the cows and sheep. Hot fiery foods definitely match up with the fiery celebratory nature of this feast. All curries and all dishes made with red peppers, chilies, onions, leeks, shallots, garlic or chives are appropriate. It is traditional to consume Spiced red wines and dishes containing raisins, symbols of the sun’s energies.

It is traditional to consume Spiced red wines and dishes containing raisins, symbols of the sun’s energies.

Traditional grains were eaten to celebrate the growth of future grains. Serve crepes pancakes, cakes, and breads. Again if you are on a PALEO, no carbs and no grains diet, use spelt, Kamut, almond, rice, corn, amaranth or whatever and transmute it to honor the ancient grains.  Put out a loaf of bread on your windowsill like they did in Ireland traditionally on Brigid’s day. An ear of corn was also set out. Wheat stalks are woven into X-shaped crosses to serve as charms to protect the home from fires and lightning. Clean out your fireplace.

IMBOLC RITUAL SUPPLIES
Incense: Rosemary, Frankincense, Myrrh, Cinnamon
Decorations: Corn Dolly or Spring Flowers
Colors: White, Orange, Red

Ritual for Imbolc/Candlemas

A white flower or snow in a crystal or a paper cut out snowflake to symbolize winter. You could safely set this on fire and let it burn as a symbol of the spring coming.

You will need an orange candle anointed with cinnamon, frankincense or rosemary oil (unlit), red candle to represent the elements and your ritual supplies.

HOW TO

Arrange the altar, light the candles and censer, and cast the Circle. Call in the elements.

Invoke the Goddess and God.

Say such words as the following:
“This is the time of the feast of FIRE/torches/wands,
When every lamp blazes and shines
To welcome the rebirth of the Sun God.
Celebrate the Goddess, Celebrate the God;
All the Earth celebrates, beneath its mantle of sleep.

Light the orange candle from the red candle on the altar. Slowly walk the circle clockwise/sunwise, holding the candle before you. Say these or similar words:

“All the land is wrapped in winter.
The air is chilled and frost envelopes the Earth.
But Lord of the Sun, Horned One of animals and wild places,
Unseen you have been reborn Of the gracious Mother Goddess,
Lady of all fertility.
Hail Great God!  Hail and welcome!”

Stop before the altar, holding up the candle. Gaze at its flame. Scry with the fire.  Visualize your life blossoming with creativity, with renewed energy and strength.

If you need to look into the future or the past, now is an ideal time

SET NEW INTENTIONS

Make new commitments on this day.

Jian Ghomeshi, Rape culture day in court

Jian Ghomeshi gets his day in court February 1st 2016 after over a year since his initial sexual assault charges by three women. It’ll be more like Groundhog Day where Jian will be reliving the same  thing over and over.

rape culture, Jian Ghomeshi, Astrology Tara Greene

While the verdict will not be in for a few months. I wanted to quickly update what the stars are saying the outcome will likely be.

Even if you are not familiar with this particular trial case of sexual abuse. Please read what the stars say about the supposed perpetrator and how his outcome fares. I frickin love astrology.

With Uranus at 17 degrees ARIES in his 3rd house of communications, and PLUTO in Capricorn in his first house, of self-image and persona exactly opposite and in square to his Natal Mars at 16 degrees  Libra {in detriment} in his 9th house of justice and honesty. This can indicate a very heavy shadowy wild card ride for Jian. He will be trying to appear peaceful and balanced, with his “rough sex consenting womens” alibi showcasing his passive/aggressive Mars side.

PLUTO and Mars both co-rules SCORPIO the sign of  sexuality, S & M, shadows, control, secrets, death, power. Jian has SCORPIO on his 10th house CUSP, his highest standing in the world, his shining Career. He will be UNDONE by his sexual appetites, his need to be in control and his ignorance of dealing with his own shadows psychologically and having no respect for women.

Jian is a BORN NARCISSIST with mother issues. He has CERES the Great Mother in late degrees of CANCER, the most smothering of sign conjunct to his powerful EXACT JUPITER VENUS conjunction in LEO in his 7th house of “marriage” or all relationships, business ones as well.

The Jupiter Venus conjunction also squares his Lunar Nodes, indicating that this is a past life issue with all the women he is dealing with, which is no excuse. Jian’s North Node is in Taurus – extremely sensuality, stubborn and earthy which is right on his I.C.the 4th house cusp, of his childhood, home and foundation, also indicating a powerful mother -connection.

Mars is currently in Scorpio passing through his Career house as is the Moon today Highlighting the sexual secrets nature of this trial.

SATURN LORD OF KARMA is at 14 degrees Sagittarius entering Jian ‘s Natal 12th house of incarcerations, prisons, secrets, shooting oneself in the foot, etc. Saturn will be there for the next 2 years and the minimum term is 18 months for Jian.

Saturn is also Squaring his Natal Pluto in VIRGO in his 8th house of sex, power, control, the Scorpio House of birth, death and transformation. Saturn is also opposite his NAtal Gemini Sun now until the third week in March when it goes Retrograde. Saturn will be exactly opposite Jian’s Sun in December of 2016, exactly squaring his natal Pluto and his URANUS in VIRGO.

CHIRON the WOUNDED HEALER at 18 degrees PISCES is exactly opposite his Pluto in VIRGO in his 8th house and square to his Natal SUN in GEMINI in his 6th house of work. His wounds will be writ large all over the public stage. He is finished publically.

LUCKY planet Jupiter is in VIRGO conjunct to Jian’s Natal Uranus and Retrograding back to connect with his PLUTO and square his Gemini SUN now and again in July and August 2016. JUPITER can be beneficial but often too much of a good thing….. All of the planets are interconnected.

The March 8th SOLAR ECLIPSE at 18+ degrees PISCES exactly Squares Jian’s GEMINI SUN and his PLUTO/URANUS in VIRGO from his 2nd house of resources, money, self-image.

These are very tough transits to be going through at this time. MY prediction. Jian will serve jail time and have to pay huge amounts back to each one of the women. He will be made an example of his through his misconduct.

Groundhog Day /Candlemas I got you babe

February 2nd in modern secular times we have the mash up of Candlemas and Groundhog day.

What’s candlemas?

Originally an ancient pagan holiday.  At the beginning of February, in honoring of the myth of spring, wherein Pluto stole Proserpine/Persephone, and her mother Ceres/ Demeter sought her in the night with lighted candles. The custom was to walk around the city with lighted candles in honor of the Goddess. Because the Christians could not destroy these ancient customs, they called it Candlemas  and made it in honor of the Blessed Virgin.

February also takes its name from Februa meaning “religious purification”, and means “the month of purification”, or “the cleansing month”.

Candlemas is celebrated as the 40th day of Jesus’s birth where he was presented in the Temple in Jerusalem for blessing by the Rabbi.. Mothers stayed in their homes with newborns until  the 20th day. Simeon then prophesied to Mary: “Behold, this child is set for the falling and the rising of many in Israel, and for a sign which is spoken against. Yes, a sword will pierce through your own soul, that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed” it is recorded in the Gospels.

In modern archetypes, Groundhog Day has become an icon for the literal theme of the movie about “seeing your shadow” which the groundhog may or may not do on Feb 2.  The Movie, starring Bill Murray from  1993 directed and written by Harold Ramis. has the protagonist in a karmic time loop. Think about this during Mercury’s Retrograde in Aquarius.the sign of liberation.

Make this your Groundhog day mantra.

Imbolc, Quickening, St. Brigid’s Day Groundhog Day tales fromTara Greene

Enough with this POLAR VORTEX, SPRING IS SPARKING

CELEBRATE

St. Brigid’s Day THE QUICKENING Candlemas Imbolc Groundhog Day

St. Brigid, Imbolc Tara Greene

Feb. 1st –2nd Traditional Irish and Pagan Holiday Celebrations

Feb. 1st is the beginning of the FIRST FIRE of the SUN’s return, the spark, the First sign of Spring in the Northern Hemisphere. This Ancient pagan, Celtic ,Wiccan, celebration is also called The QUICKENING.

Known as Saint Brigid’s Day, Birghita or Bride’s Day, it’s both a Catholic and Pagan Celebration of an ancient Goddess tradition. Imbolc is still celebrated by Wiccans/Pagan based Earth honouring religions. Christians overlaid the Ancient Goddess worshipers’ holiday renaming it Candlemas or the fest of the Purification of the Virgin on Feb 2.

This celebration is the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox. It is a “cross-quarter” day in the 8 rounds of the Wheel of Time in the Solar based year. The Celtic Year was based on both lunar and solar cycles, it is most likely the holiday would be celebrated on the Full Moon nearest those 2 midpoints, when early spring flowers would begin to rise up through the snow, and snakes would come out of the ground.
In non secular terms it become GROUDHOG DAY on Feb 2. Snakes are always sacred Goddess symbols.

SACRED

That Ancient peoples of Ireland kept this day as very sacred. At the Megalithic and Neolithic sites, such as the Loughcrew burial mounds and the Mound of the Hostages in Tara, Ireland, the inner chambers of the passage tombs are perfectly aligned with the rising sun of both Imbolc and Samhain attesting to the value placed on this day.

Triple Goddess/Saint Brigid/Bride

She is according to Robert Graves, the most Ancient Triple Goddess worshipped since time out of mind. The Goddess rules over scholars and poets. She is the Goddess of fire and inspirations in Ireland, the Goddess of poetry, creativity, smithcraft and healing. She also rules healing with water, and divination. She is said to rule over people who work with cows and chickens, brewers, fugitives, midwives, infants, printers, sailors, travelers, New Zealand, & Irish nuns. This day symbolizes a time of transitions, initiations, new beginnings, of planting seeds that will sprout later. Brigid/Birgita represents the light half of the year, Her power brings the people out of the dark season of winter into spring, so, it is a very important time of the year.

The Goddess Brigid and Saint Brigid are the same being in two forms, peace makers and bridges. The matronly Goddess Brigid bridged the two warring races of gods of the ancient Tuatha de Danann with her sacred marriage, and Saint Brigid was the bridge between the Druids and the Christians. Brigid was the daughter of a Druid Chieftain and the first woman bishop of Ireland. The nuns of Kildare carry on the sacred work.

ST. Brigi's cross Ireland

She is the Goddess of Augury PROPHETS

In the Druidic tradition, poetry and augury were associated. She is patron of prophets and seers.

Celtic seers divined by looking into deep water and into flames. This is a great time to do divination.

Triple Goddess

She has two sisters with the same name. One aspect of her carries a blacksmith tongs and a sword, because she is also patroness of war; another aspect holds 2 healing snakes, from which the modern Doctor’s symbol is derived, the caduceus, the third aspect carries a wand with a crescent moon and a tablet.

Elements

Brigid rules the Waters. Many healing springs are dedicated to Brigid. Natural bodies of water also signify Her presence, particularly where three streams joined together. She also rules Fire, so it is customary to make candles for the coming year and bless them on this day.

Protecting Goddess

In her aspect as Brigantia, she carries a spear, an orb of victory, and wears a war crown. She symbolizes protection of the country from invaders and slavery.

Midwives

As Patroness of MIDWIVES, she was invoked at the door of the home where the woman was giving birth, by the midwife. Who speke:

“Bride, Bride, come in! Thy welcome is truly made, Give thou relief to the woman, And give thou the conception to the Trinity.”

Brigid is the guardian of every newborn, their cradles protected with a woven Brigit’s Cross, an equal armed cross. Upon a safe delivery, the infant was blessed or “sained” by the midwife, with 3 drops of water on the child’s forehead, dedicating the Child to the Triple Goddess. The “Holy Trinity” in its modernized Christian aspect, was just an overlay of the Goddess Triple Aspect since time out of memory. A candle was carried ‘round the bed sun wise three times. As Brigid is a Solar Goddess. We think of the Sun as masculine but originally all aspects of the Universe were considered Feminine.

Light a Candle and Invoke the Goddess at this time-

I kindle this candle in the name of Brighid, Goddess of Smiths,

I sain this house in the name of Brighid, Goddess of Healers,

I smoor this candle in the name of Brighid, Goddess of Poets.

One folk tradition still continues in both Christian and Pagan homes on St. Brigid’s Day is that of St. Brigid’s Bed. Girls and young unmarried women create corn dollies to represent Brigid, these are adorned with ribbons, baubles shells or stones. A bed is made for the doll to lie in. On St. Brigid’s Eve Jan 31, the girls gather together in one house and stay up all night with the doll, are are later visited by all the young men, who ask permission to enter the home, and then treat the young maidens and the dolly with respect. The next day the girls carry the doll through the neighbourhood from house to house, where she is welcomed with great honour. Adult women stay home to welcome the Brigid procession and offer snacks and coins to the young girls and maidens.

Brigid is said to walk the earth on Imbolc eve. Feb 1st. Before going to bed, each member of the household may leave a piece of clothing or strip of fabric outside for Brigid to bless. The cloth are brought inside the next morning, believed to now have the powers of healing and protection.

BRIGID is alive and well.

The name “Britain” is a derivation of Brigit’s name. Britain was named for an ancient Celtic tribe, the Brigantes, who were the largest Celtic tribe in the country in pre-Roman times who worshipped Her as their Deity. The word “brigand” comes from this tribe of fierce warriors. Her symbol is a flaming spear. Her worship spread, leaving behind places named in Her honour-Brittany in France, Brechin in Scotland, the name Brent, in England, any name containing Bride. Britain’s symbol, the Goddess Brigantia, still found on their 50 cent coin is Brigid in her aspect as Goddess of the Land.  Of course Britany Spears is carrying the modern archetype of Brigid, and strangely enough one of Brigid’s symbols is a flaming spear!

Feb. 1 and 2nd, We are half way to SPRING in Northern Hemisphere

Not  just I GOT YOU BABE for INFINITY but it’s a Traditional Irish and Pagan Holiday Celebrations

The song would more aptly be LIGHT MY FIRE- by the Doors, of course.

Groundhog Day was and is celebrated in the Modern Irish Calendar as Saint Brigid’s Day,or Bride’s Day, both a Catholic and Pagan Celebration of an ancient Goddess tradition,.

Known as Imbolc to Wiccans/Pagans, Christians overlaid the Ancient Goddess worshipers’ holiday renaming it Candlemas or the fest of the Purification of the Virgin. This celebration also relates to the midpoint between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox.

It is a “cross-quarter” day in the 8 rounds of the Wheel of Time in the Solar based year. Since the Celtic Year was based on both lunar and solar cycles, it is most likely the holiday would be celebrated on the Full Moon nearest those 2 midpoints, when early spring flowers would begin to rise and snakes would come out of the ground.

The SNAKE is the precursor of the Groundhog, which the Romans replaced with a Hedgehog, which we… On Feb. 2nd.

Ancient peoples of Ireland kept this day as very sacred. At the Megalithic and Neolithic sites in Tara, Ireland, the inner chambers of the passage tombs are perfectly aligned with the rising sun of both Imbolc and Samhain attesting to the value placed on this day.

Triple Goddess/Saint Brigid/Bride’s Sacred Day

In the Scottish Highlands where she was known as Bride, every morning the fire was kindled with an invocation to Bride:

“I will build the hearth
As Mary would build it.
The encompassment of Bride and of Mary
Guarding the hearth, guarding the floor,
Guarding the household all.”

The 10th-century Cormac’s Glossary states that Brigid was the daughter of the Dagda, the “Great God” of the Tuatha de Danaan – “woman of wisdom…a goddess whom poets adored, because her protection was very great and very famous.” Since poetry, filid, was interwoven with the aspects of divination, the vates, Brigid was seen as the inspiration behind divination and prophecy.

You can see Brigit above the south western door of the tower on Glastonbury Tor milking a cow.

INVOCATION TO SAINT BRIDE

“Dear Saint Bridget of the Kine
Bless these little fields of mine,
The pastures and the shady trees,
Bless the butter and the cheese,
Bless the cows with coats of silk
And the brimming pails of milk,
Bless the hedgerows, and I pray
Bless the seed beneath the clay,
Bless the hay and bless the grass,
Bless the seasons as they pass,
And heaven’s blessings will prevail,
Brigid – Mary of the Gael”

According to Robert Graves, she is the most Ancient Triple Goddess worshipped since time out of mind.

Brigid/Birgita represents the light half of the year,Her power brings the people out of the dark season of winter into spring, so, it is a very important time of the year.

The name “Britain” is a derivation of Brigit’s name. Britain was named for an ancient Celtic tribe, the Brigantes, who were the largest Celtic tribe in the country in pre-Roman times who worshipped Her as their Deity.

The tribe originated from an area now called Bregenz in Austria near Lake Constance.

In Old German/Yiddish the word “Fabrent” meaning burnt, honours this Ancient Goddess.

Britney Spears is carrying the modern archetypal literal name of Brigid, and strangely enough one of Brigid’s symbols is a flaming spear!

Happy Groundhog Day,Imbolc,Candlemas, St. Bridgid’s day,Mary’s Purification from Tara Greene, Tarot Psychic Astrologer

Not just that great movie playing I got You babe by Sonny and Cher over and over and over about deja vu,life being infinite  starring Bill Murray and Andie McDowell.

Feb 2 is a very powerful cross-quarter day in the wheel of the Year. Celebrated since the dawn of time by our ancestors and still observed by Pagans, Wiccans and Catholics who had to add the ancient holidays into their own traditions transformed into a Catholic shade as The Feast of the Purification of Mary.

It is a holiday of the element of Fire celebration.  Clean out your old hearth or wood stove. Think about your passions. What are you passionate about?  Light a new fire, signifying a new action, inspiration, passion.

PLANTING SEEDS, GERMINATING NEW INTENTIONS

It is good to plant real seeds, or a bulb, a spring flower perhaps, as a symbol of your new life emerging at the Spring Equinox. Ritally imagine your intent for whatever it is you wish into your seed, put it in potting soil and water it and put it in a dark place, keep an eye on it,keep it moist but dont let it rot, Keep praying, blessings and mediating with your seed. Watch it slowly sprout and emerge as Spring draws nearer and nearer.

BRIGID GODDESS OF CREATIVITY

Brigid is the Goddess of poetry smithcraft and healing. Do something creative, read poetry, suspend your critical mind and allow your left brain consciousness to take over and allow apure stream of consciousness to write a poem. Sing, dance, appreciate fine art and crafts. Dedicate a future work to Her.

Make new comitments on this day.

As a Purification Day

Use water and salt to purify yourself. Wash your hands and face in salt water. Sprinkle salt water which you have blessed makiing it charged, sprinkle it in every corner of your home. Brigid governed wells, their is a holy well in Ireland where she is workshipped. Water is the most important element. Water transmutes all hardness, breaks down anything over time. The waters of the earth these days needs our help and intentions. The oceans are polluted from the atomic reactor breakdown in Japan last year, from oil spills, toxins being poured into the rivers and lakes. Send your intention to see the earths waters running clear pure, cleansed.

Let them eat Crepes

Traditional grains were eaten to celebrate the growth of future grains. Serve crepes pancakes, cakes, breads. Put out a loaf of bread on your windowsill like they did in Ireland traditionally on Brigid’s day. An ear of corn was also set out. Wheat stalks are woven into X shaped crosses to serve as charms to protect the home form fires and lightning.

Traditionally a corn dolly or last sheaf of wheat or grain from Lammas or Autumn Equinox was dressed in a bridal gown an dput in a basket made for her, called the Bride’s bed. A wand, candle or other phallic object was laid across her, and Bride or Birgita was invited to come. It is a fertility time.

Ewes are birthing their young and lactating. Milk would be flowing and the people had more security.

It was Spring in old Europe, these days freeZing and stormed in what with earth changes and weather patterns going crazy. This would be the day of the first ploughing of the earth. What old earth are you going to fertilise? to till? What practical things will you nurture? As Jupiter is in Taurus right now, earthly, practical, sensual, plodding, stick with it ness will be easier this year.

CANDLES, as a festival of light

Light up your Life  as the days grow longer. Mucho candles everywhere should be lit. Traditionally candles are brought to a church to be blessed, which is then brought home to be used as talismans for protection.

In HUNGARY

this day is called the Blessing of the candle of the Happy Woman. In Poland Feb 2 is called the Mother of God who saves us from thunder.

As there is huge snow storms and freezing weather in Russia, over most of Europe, snow in Venice Italy and Corsica even this year.So far 90 people have died in the last few days. Let’s all send the European’s in the deep freeze some warm weather. Also Alaska and the North of Canada has seen -66 degree temperatures. They need the heat mass that Candlemas is all about. Light a candle, Do a meditation and breathe warmth on the northern part of the world. Visualize the world in the palm of your hand and breathe your hot breath onto the northern part of earth.

Last but not least SPRING CLEANING!

Time to clean up your act in all ways. A bit early to start an actual spring tonic lceanse for your liver. Clean and enew your mind, scrub out the old ideas that have gotten cobweby. This is actulally abetter time to commit to a new exercise routine than Jan 1st. The light is getting stronger, days are visibly longer, you will have more energy.

The lesson of the brilliant movie Groundhog Day was not to be stuck in a karmic rut of repeat the same old patterns over and over and over and nauseum. Character traits and old habits like  being stubborn callous, cranky, selfish, blaming, addictions, stuckness, giving up,  lower self  routines over and over and over, but make of your life something amazing , help others, grow and learn as much as you can. Give love and find love.

It is  a very special time this year 2012. cosnciousness is expanding. JOin in.

Blessings, TARA
