RIP “you sexy thing” life and death of Errol Brown

I must have missed this. Hot Chocolate lead singer and songwriter Errol Brown passed away May 6 in his home in Kingston, Jamaica surrounded by his wife of 30 years and his daughters. He died from liver cancer.

Hot Chocolate singer

Hot Chocolate has one of the biggest pop/disco hits ever in the world. 1975’s “You sexy thing” / I believe in Miracles”  which Errol co-wrote for his wife  became the only track that made British Top Ten status in the 1970’s, 1980’s and 1990’s because of its usage in the 1997 hit British movie The Full Monty.

Brown moved to the U.K. as a child.  John Lennon helped the group in its fame after he approved the bands funk-soul reggae version of Give Peace A Chance.

The Band had many top hits; Everyone’s a Winner, Emma, So You Win Again, and my fave Put Your Love In Me.  The band performed at the wedding reception for Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

Errol was awarded an MBE in 2003 and he was touring up till 2009.

death and life Astrology, Tara Greene

For a man who became famous for singing you sexy thing. I find it totally cosmically in tune that he would have the SUN in Sexy Scorpio conjunct to Mercury planet of communications on his Scorpio Mid-Heaven or worldly fame position where he shines the brightest.  OK that just about says it all.

SCORPIO is traditionally ruled by Mars. Errol had Mars RETROGRADE at 20 degrees of GEMINI which Mercury also rules, making his Scorpio communications abilities to transport others through his personal sexual powerful aura even stronger.

Mars is conjunct to Saturn also Retrograde in this Solar 10th house chart

in the 5th house of creativity, artists, leaders, big-hearted, loyal, passionate folks. that fits too.

Mars conjunct Saturn both Retrograde would usually be considered a very hard aspect traditionally. It show a serious communications side to Errol. He carefully thought out and organized business. This aspect also gave Errol staying power, Saturn rules maturity and longevity. Plus Saturn is conjunct to the North Star which often shows up in those who have big success in their lives. Others naturally revolve around them. They are “way showers” and compasses. I believe he was a consummate professional. There may have been hardships and difficulty when he was young.  His family moved from Jamaica to the U.K. when he was 12. I don’t have details about his early life.

Saturn also squares his Natal VENUS/NEPTUNE conjunction in LIBRA

In this chart these two incredibly romantic, creative, idealistic, soul mate, socially adept charming, dreamy planets are in the 8th house which is traditionally Scorpio.  This strengthened Errol enabling him to make his dreams become reality.

The song that I love most from Hot Chocolate is Put Your Love In Me. I searched for years to find out who did it. To me it embodies that Venus/Neptune conjunction perfectly. It is so spiritual, dreamy, romantic and feminine. A man asking a woman to put her love in him. Beautiful

ABOUT VENUS CONJUNCT NEPTUNE

Anyone with a natal Venus/Neptune conjunction is incurably romantic especially in Libra. I have this same aspect myself in Libra. Depending on other planetary placements in anyone’s chart this aspect can make one prone to be a dreamer without substance, someone who  can be a martyr, very compassionate, an incredibly creative person, an artist, musician, actor, poet, film maker. These people can get lost in illusions and delusions, bankruptcy, addictions, drug abuse, gambling, sex addiction and alcoholism is the other, down side of Venus/Neptune .

Moon in Taurus in the 4th house squaring Jupiter in Leo in the 7th

Rules singers, sensual people. Errol was a private person whose home and family were everything. He was a stubborn, hard worker, strong and physically attractive.

Pluto was conjunct his North Node in Leo on the 7th house cusp

This aspect guaranteed that Errol’s soul was fully manifesting in his lifetime and guarantees success. It also confers fame, status, riches, strong adoration from others. He was a big-hearted generous, intense, soulful man.

Errol also had Jupiter in Leo in the 7th house of “others”

Again a kingly sign, generous, passionate, charismatic, the “sun king” royalty, fame. He made others feel like Queens or Kings. He played for Royalty.

Uranus in Gemini in the 4th house

Errol thought differently and communicated in new inventive ways. He had a lot of energy and needed freedom although intensely loyal to his family.

Errol was a #22 The Fool, the enlightened One, and he is a Soul Number 4 the King or Emperor.

His DEATH

The liver is ruled by Jupiter, he died from liver cancer.

Jupiter in Leo is squaring his Sun vitality and his Mercury.

Mars was conjunct his Natal Moon in Taurus

transitting Venus is sitting right on his Natal Saturn

A beautiful ending to a life well lived.

The Total Solar Eclipse at 29 degrees Pisces was square to his Natal Saturn and opposite Venus/Neptune

That symbolizes and end to life and a peaceful return to the Source, This could have been Errol’s last life time, which is  a good thing.

We will miss you Errol but your music lives on.
