All Buddhists, love and pray to Quan Yin. Chinese Taoists consider her an Immortal. Her name means “observing the Sounds of the world.” She is worshipped through Eastern Asia under different names.
She is known as a Bodhisattva. This is a Buddha, an enlightened being who has given up their own liberation from the wheel of karma and who volunteers to come back into the world to help alleviate the suffering of all sentient beings until everyone is liberated. I didn’t realize that April 7 was considered Kwan Yin’s birthday. My mother, may she rest in peace was born on this day. I am crying because I really gave her a hard time when I was a kid. When she died it was on a Holy Day and we were told that only very auspicious spiritual people die or are born on these days,and I didn’t know that either until it happened.
